André 3000

OutKast first became friends while attending high school in Atlanta together. “André 3000″ was born André Benjamin in 1975. Both of his parents were salespeople; his dad, Lawrence Walker, was in collections, while his mom, Sharon Benjamin Hodo, was in the real estate business. Antwan “Big Boi” Patton was the same age as Antwan, and he was the son of a father who served in the Marine Corps and a mother who worked as a supervisor at a retail establishment. Both decided to pursue a career in the performing arts and enrolled in Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Georgia, a school that caters to kids who are interested in pursuing such a path.

They noted that, initially, they stood out from the other students due to the exceptionally preppy dress choices that they had made for themselves. Both of them were fans of the more experimental vein of hip-hop artists, such as De La Soul, the Brand Nubians, and A Tribe Called Quest. They were also fans of 1970s funk from artists such as George Clinton and Sly and the Family Stone. However, it was music that served as the glue that held their early friendship together.

Benjamin and Patton started creating their own rap songs and mix tapes, which they later released to the public. They had originally planned to call their band “2 Shades Deep,” but then they discovered that the name was already in use by another band. They gave themselves the moniker Misfits, which they later found out was already being used by another band. They opted to use the synonym “outcast,” which they discovered when they looked up “misfit” in the dictionary. However, they decided to preserve the phonetic “k” spelling that the dictionary uses.

Both Benjamin and Patton stated in retrospect that they were rather rebellious when they were younger, and Benjamin left Tri-Cities High School after completing his junior year. Despite this, they actively sought a means to break into the music industry since they had significant goals. They discovered it after meeting a production team from the Atlanta region called Organized Noize. This crew had previously collaborated in the studio with TLC to record their smash track “Waterfalls” in 1994.

The first single published by OutKast was titled “Player’s Ball,” and it was issued by LaFace Records on cassette in 1993. The following year, it was issued on vinyl. The tune shot all the way to the top of the Billboard rap singles chart and remained there for a whole month at the top spot. They were the first hip-hop artist to be signed to the Atlanta record company LaFace, which was owned and operated by Antonio “L.A.” Reid (about 1958–) and was a subsidiary of the Arista Records empire.

Benjamin and Patton were anxious to mix things up despite the fact that, at this point in their careers, they were performing as simple rap artists. Benjamin once shared his thoughts with the writer for Newsweek, Allison Samuels, saying, “When I look at the rap videos, it’s pretty much the same video over and over again.” “A group of beautiful ladies dressed in bikinis, and some dudes rapping about cash or valuables.

Rosa Parks, an iconic figure in the struggle for civil rights in the United States, has taken legal action against the hip-hop group OutKast (1913–). Even though she was not mentioned in the song’s lyrics, the first single from their album Aquemini which was released in 1998 bears her name. The chorus made reference to her historic refusal in 1955 to move to the back of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, where African Americans were expected to sit. Her refusal to do so sparked a bus boycott that lasted for an entire year and effectively kicked off the civil rights movement in the United States. The song by OutKast is about the entertainment business; yet, the lyrics encourage listeners to “A-ha, quiet that fuss” and “Everybody goes to the rear of the bus.

Parks filed a lawsuit in federal court, in which she named André “André 3000” Benjamin, Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, and their record company, Arista, as defendants. Her legal representatives contended that by utilizing her name in their song without first obtaining her consent, OutKast had defamed her and infringed her rights to publicity as well as her trademark. The attorneys for OutKast and Arista counterargued that the song was not misleading advertising and had not breached her publicity rights. In addition, they said that the First Amendment protected the music under the freedom of expression rule and ensured protection for the song.

Parks’ federal complaint was dismissed in 1999, but the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Cincinnati, Ohio, restored portions of it, and OutKast’s attorneys went to the United States Supreme Court to keep the case from proceeding any further. The justices of the Supreme Court decided not to become involved in the case in December 2003, which cleared the way for the trial that was scheduled to start in January 2005.

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik was the first full-length record released by OutKast. It was released in 1994 and debuted at position No. 3 on the Billboard R&B/hip-hop albums chart. They emerged as one of a crop of organizations located in Atlanta at the time that was getting national notice, and they were one of those groups. OutKast “slanged parables” about their hometown of Los Angeles, according to an article published in L.A. “Just as Ice Cube had recounted a Westside narrative and KRS-One presented an Eastside one, OutKast… slanged parables.

Michael Datcher, a writer for the weekly. With the release of their second album, ATLiens, in 1996, the duo attracted an even larger audience. It had a hit song with “Elevators (Me and You),” and had more of a live-studio sound than high-tech production effects. However, actual instruments were given preference over the effects. Additionally, it had an atmosphere that was reminiscent of a spacecraft, which connected them to Clinton’s masterpieces from the 1970s with Parliament-Funkadelic. Benjamin revealed this information to the journalist Lola Ogunnaike of the New York Times. “When we began playing the more experimental rap, starting talking about aliens, that’s when more and more white folks started going to the gigs.

Late in October of 2000, Stankonia was made available for purchase, which was only a few days beyond the cutoff time for albums that wanted to be considered for a Grammy Award nomination for that given year. However, in the beginning of January in 2002, it was put forth for consideration in five different categories, one of which was an album of the year. A few weeks later, they were awarded two Grammys: one for “Mrs. Jackson,” which was voted the greatest song by a rap duo or group, and one for “best rap album of 2001.

Before releasing their next studio album, OutKast kept fans waiting for close to three years. Late in September of 2003, the long-awaited album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was finally released to the public, barely in time to beat the all-important Grammy submission deadline. In February of the following year, it was awarded three Grammys, including one for album of the year, one for best rap album of 2003, and one for best urban/alternative performance for “Hey Ya!” On the other hand, the dual CD had effectively two independent releases, one from each individual member of OutKast. Patton’s Speakerboxxx was a more conventional rap album, and it yielded a single that was successful enough to appear on many charts.

The album by Andre titled “The Love Below” was the funkiest of the two. Benjamin began working on the project in the beginning stages as a soundtrack for a movie, which was a love tale that took place in Paris. Even though it was criticized by some reviewers for combining an excessive number of musical genres, other reviewers praised both LPs for the large picture vision they presented. “With Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Some fans of OutKast were concerned that the release of the split album would signal the beginning of the end for the duo since each member is too musically distinct at this point to work together again.

However, both Benjamin and Patton emphasized that despite their differences, they were still a team. According to what Patton said to Marti Yarbrough in the movie Jet, “Both recordings are OutKast records. They are simply presented from two distinct points of view. Patton, who had known the other two men from their days together in high school, was able to effectively manage the commercial aspects of the collaboration from his home in Fayetteville, Georgia. Benjamin, on the other hand, had aspirations of becoming a Hollywood actor. He had a small role in the 2003 film Hollywood Homicide and was a member of the ensemble cast in the 2005 film version of the crime book Be Cool, written by Elmore Leonard. Benjamin and Patton had also collaborated with Bryan Barber, an Atlanta-based director, on a musical that was taking place in a jazz club during the 1920s. The setting was Atlanta.

White Noise is a forthcoming film that will be available on Netflix, and while André 3000 is not currently working on new songs, he is getting back into his acting bag. White Noise is a dramatization of a contemporary American family’s attempts to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life while grappling with the universal mysteries of love, death, and the possibility of happiness in an uncertain world. As stated by the streamer, “at once hilarious and horrifying, lyrical and absurd, ordinary and apocalyptic, White Noise dramatizes a contemporary American family’s attempts to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life.

The official teaser shows Driver’s family being held up in traffic amid a downpour as they are driving. When Driver is informed that the children in the other vehicles have noticed that the families in the other cars do not look anxious, he responds by asking, “What does it matter what they’re doing in other cars?” The question is then answered by one of the children, who says, “I simply want to know how terrified I should be.” As the tense music begins to play, the story is shown in a montage of events that provide very little insight into what is going on in the story.

In a statement, the film’s writer and director, Noah Baumbach, said, “I read Don DeLillo’s novel in college in the late 1980s, and it seemed like today, or the now of then.” Baumbach was referring to his experience reading the book at that time. It was a superb depiction of the absurdity, tragedy, and craziness that characterized America during that period. When I read it again in the early months of 2020, it seemed exactly the same as it does right now. But the present moment itself. After a few weeks had passed, the whole globe came to a stop. I started working on an adaptation of the novel because I wanted to produce a movie that was as insane as the universe seemed to be to me.

The musician André 3000 is the most recent artist to collaborate with the streetwear brand Supreme. The member of Outkast can be seen in photographs taken by Deana Lawson wearing an olive jacket, an enormous pair of sunglasses, a red beanie, a Supreme box t-shirt, and baggy pinstripe overalls. The rapper, whose actual name is André Benjamin, discussed the importance of maintaining one’s artistic identity in a short that accompanied his song “Vibrate” from 2003. The film lasted for forty-eight seconds and included the rapper playing his famed flute.
