Jidenna

Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, better known by his first name simply, is a well-known American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born in the United States. He was born in the United States to an American mother and a Nigerian father, but he spent the first six years of his childhood in Nigeria, where his Nigerian father held the position of professor. After being kidnapped at gunpoint while riding on a bus in Nigeria, they eventually made their way back to the United States. Jidenna, who had shown an early interest in music, made the decision to become a rapper while he was in the seventh grade but kept up with his schoolwork.

At the age of 18, he enrolled at Stanford University with the intention of studying sound engineering. Later on, he decided to transfer his major, and by the time he was 23, he had completed all of the requirements for a BA in ceremonial arts. After that, he came to New York City with the intention of beginning a career in music there; but, due to a lack of cash, he was obliged to accept a job teaching instead.

When he was 29 years old, he published his first song, which was titled “Classic Man.” Two years later, he launched his first album, which was titled “The Chief.” He is also highly socially concerned, as seen by the fact that he is an active participant in the “Black Lives Matter” campaign. He travels back to the country of his father’s birth, Nigeria, on occasion to help contribute to the nation’s economic growth and cultural preservation.

Jidenna Theodore Mobisson was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, in the United States of America on May 4, 1985. His father, Oliver Udemmadu Ogbonna Mobisson, was a Nigerian Igbo scientist and the founding Professor of the Anambra State University of Technology in Enugu, Nigeria. The university would eventually be renamed the Enugu State University of Science and Technology. His white American mother, Tama Mobisson, is an accountant by trade.

She lives in the United States. He was the youngest of his parents’ four children and had two older sisters, one of whom, Nneka Mobisson-Etuk, is the Executive Director of African Operations at the Institute for Health Care Investment. He was born last among his siblings. In addition, he has an older brother by the name of Geoff, who has an MBA from Harvard.

After Jidenna had only been in the United States for a few weeks, his family moved back to Nigeria. In his younger years, he had a severe sensitivity to lactose, which caused him to have a bloated stomach and a disproportionately huge head. When a delegation from UNICEF visited Nigeria and asked Jidenna to pose for a picture, that is when his parents first learned about the issue. At first, his parents objected, arguing that he did not come from a family that was among the very lowest in the country. When parents heard that their boy resembled a UNICEF baby, they couldn’t believe what they were hearing. After receiving the news of the illness, his father took a flight to the United States and brought back a significant quantity of soy bean-based items for his son.

His first memory is his mother, who was the only white woman in the whole neighbourhood at the time. They were often mistaken by the locals for wealthy visitors each time they went to the market, and as a result, the locals surrounded their automobile whenever they drove there. Another one of his memories included his father’s interactions with the local tribal leaders. During such discussions, Jidenna would often sneak out of the room after placing Michael Jackson or Bob Marley tapes in a boom box and then leaving the room in complete silence. Since he was a little boy, he has always had a strong affinity for Michael Jackson.

When he was only five years old, he went through the most harrowing event of his whole life. One day, while they were riding on a bus on their way to the airport, they were kidnapped by a gang of armed thieves who brutally assaulted his mother and raped and abused his sister. A bullet was also lodged in Jimena’s foot during the incident. Despite the fact that they were able to flee the scene of the event, it left them in too much fear to stay in Nigeria. The year after that, his mother relocated all four of her children back to the United States. His father, who was completely absorbed in his profession, chose to stay in Nigeria, although he kept in constant communication with his family.

When they moved to the United States, they settled on the suburbs of Boston, close to the school where Jidenna attended. On the very first day of school, he was subjected to racially insensitive behaviour. A little kid named Philip kicked him under the seat and called him a “African nigger” as he started to recite his alphabets with an accent that was typical of his native Nigeria. Jidenna had to deal with racial discrimination on a daily basis as a result of the hue of his skin. He was called names like “nigger” and “coon,” which were terms that he did not comprehend. When he was seven years old, he inquired to his mother about the significance of the phrase “nigger.”

In 1995, the family relocated to Norwood, which is located in the Greater Boston region. It was then that his sisters exposed him to the music of Prince and Fela Kuti, and his brother introduced him to the music of ‘A Tribe Called Quest.’ Despite this, he never got over his obsession with Michael Jackson and would often attend school dressed as the musician. The moment a young lady by the name of Renishaw informed him that Michael Jackson was no longer hip, he altered his style of attire. She was the one who first got him interested in hip-hop, and he ended up loving it so much that by the time he was in the eighth grade, he had already made up his mind to become a rapper.

Jidenna’s mother ensured that all of her children had an excellent education, despite the fact that the family did not have a lot of money. As a result, Jidenna attended the famous Milton Academy for his high school education. In the year 2000, he relocated his family to Milton as well. Jidenna’s success at Milton Academy led to his being named captain of the school’s basketball team, despite the fact that he detested having to wear the school uniform. Jidenna was motivated to establish a rap group named “Black Spadez” after being influenced by other rappers such as Mase, Biggie, Nas, and Tupac. He then began creating and arranging songs for the group. As his capstone effort for the year, he came out with an album.

In spite of his achievements at Milton Academy, he continued to encounter instances of racial discrimination, although of a more covert one. When he was a senior in high school and applied to colleges, he was assured by admissions officers that he would be accepted no matter what just due to the fact that he was black. Jidenna received her diploma from Milton Academy in the year 2003. In spite of the fact that he was extended offers to study sound engineering from both Harvard University and Stanford University, he decided to enrol at Stanford University instead. Later on, he decided to switch his focus to ceremonial arts, and he ultimately received his degree in the field in 2008.

His time spent at Stanford University was incredibly beneficial for his musical career. Not only did he meet many people who would go on to become artists at this venue, but he also met the record producer and rapper Nana Kwabena Tuffuor, who at the time was attending the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) to study medicine. This meeting took place during spring break. In 2006, when Jidenna was a student at Stanford, he helped start a social group on campus called “Fear and Fancy.” The organization’s mission was to bring together individuals from all walks of life, not only musicians and artists. The club often hosted parties that they referred to as masquerade balls, and attendees were expected to show up with their faces completely painted in order to participate.

They prohibited the use of cellphones but enabled people to look at one another for an extended period of time. Janelle Monae Robinson, who is one of the co-founders of Wondaland Arts Society, went to one of these balls that was hosted in Oakland. At some point in the future, the two will start working together and become good friends. After receiving his degree in 2008, Jidenna relocated to New York City to begin working as a professor in a hip-hop academic programme. At the same time, he served as a professor at four different schools located in the South Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. Even though he did not take pleasure in the job, he remained teaching up to the beginning of 2014 just because he need financial support.

As part of his employment, which required him to compose music for children, he was had to become knowledgeable about many genres of music and then apply rhymes to them in a manner that would appeal to children. During this time, he moved back and forth between New York City, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Atlanta in order to further his own musical career. 2010 was the year when Jidenna’s father passed away. Before he passed away, he counselled Jidenna that if he was going to compose music, he should make sure that it mirrored the world so that other people would be able to connect with it. Additionally, he requested that Jidenna create a new persona for himself and compose music that had never been heard before.

Jiddena used his father’s comments as a guiding principle for his life, and as a result, he finally pursued a career in music full-time and signed a recording contract with Wondaland Records, owned and operated by Janelle Monáe, in 2013. Here, he started working with a variety of Wondaland musicians, including as Janelle Monáe, Roman GianArthur, St. Beauty, and Deep Cotton, among others. 2014 saw the beginning of his collaboration with Janelle Monáe, Roman GianArthur, St. Beauty, and Deep Cotton on the release of a 5-track EP titled “Wondaland Presents: The Eephus.” It included two of his songs: ‘Classic Man,’ which was a solo performance, and ‘Yoga,’ which had a collaboration with Janelle Monáe.

The first single taken from ‘The Eephus’ was released on January 4, 2015, and it was titled ‘Classic Man.’ It made its debut on the US Billboard Hot 100 at position number 89. It was then succeeded by “Yoga,” which was made available for purchase on March 31, and “The Eephus” was not made available for purchase until August 14, 2015, by Epic Records and Sony Music. In 2015, he disseminated two music videos for the song ‘Classic Man,’ the first of which featured Roman GianArthu, and the second of which included Kendrick Lamar. The next three lead tracks were released by him on December 21 of the same year: “Long Live the Chief,” “Knickers,” and “Extraordinaire.” The most recent two of them were made available to consumers as independent singles.

Since 2015, he has been hard at work on his first studio album, which will be titled “The Chief.” The song “Long Live the Chief” was released as the premiere single from this album. The song reached its highest place on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles list (Billboard) at number 10, and it also reached its highest position on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (Billboard) at number 48. In 2016, he released two additional tracks from the album “The Chief,” which he had been working on throughout the year. The song “Chief Don’t Run,” which featured Roman GianArthur, was made available for purchase on June 27, 2016, while the song “Little Bit More” was made available for purchase on July 8, 2016. The fourth single to be taken from his first album, ‘The Chief,’ was issued by the artist on February 3, 2017.

This song was performed by Nana Kwabena and was titled “The Let Out.” The first promotional single for the album was titled “Bambi,” and it was published by Jidenna on February 9, 2017. The album’s first release occurred on February 17, 2017, and was handled by both Wondaland Records and Epic Records. Boomerang is the name of an extended play (EP) that was published by Jidenna on November 10, 2017. In addition to the four brand new songs “Decibels,” “Boomerang,” “Spy Candy,” and “Out of Body,” it also included two remixes of tunes from his previous album, “The Chief.” The names of these two babies are “Bambi Too” and “Little Bit More.”
