Larry O’Connor (born June 23, 1967) is an American talk radio personality on Cumulus-owned heritage radio station WMAL-FM in Washington, D.C., as well as a frequent television guest on Fox News’ Fox & Friends and Fox News Channel’s Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld. He married Meredith Dake in 2015.
O’Connor worked with The Shubert Organization from 1986 through 1999. O’Connor directed the refurbishment of the 2,100-seat Shubert Theatre in Los Angeles from 1991 to 1999, primarily to accommodate the American debut of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s SUNSET BLVD.
starring Glenn Close. He was a founding member of the Ovation Awards, a Los Angeles-based competition fashioned after Broadway’s Tony Awards. He was the show’s executive producer in 1994 and 1995, as well as the head of the awards’ governing body, Theatre LA, the League of Los Angeles Theatres.
Under the moniker Stage Right, O’Connor began blogging for Andrew Breitbart’s Big Hollywood site in January 2009. O’Connor wrote on the theatre industry from the perspective of a conservative in the closet on Broadway, surrounded by political liberals. He produced a number of blog pieces about the NEA Conference call debacle. Breitbart’s site Big Journalism, which focuses on the mainstream media, frequently included his byline.
O’Connor was moved to editor-in-chief of Breitbart.tv, another Andrew Breitbart creation, in June 2011, a political video Web site aimed at a right-of-center internet audience. Since his appearance on Breitbart.tv, the site has published a number of films, including the one that led to Rep. Bob Ethridge’s removal from Congress. Shirley Sherrod sued O’Connor, Andrew Breitbart, and an unnamed third party for defamation in July 2011. The parties reached an out-of-court settlement in October 2015 for an undisclosed sum.
Following the death of his buddy, Andrew Breitbart, the site’s founder, O’Connor quit Breitbart in December 2013. He joined Independent Journal Review as Editor-at-Large in June 2014. He held that position till April of 2016. He then became Editor-at-Large at Hot Air until December 2016.
O’Connor began his radio career in January 2010 on BlogTalkRadio, an Internet radio station.
The show featured O’Connor’s monologues on current events in news, politics, and the entertainment business, as well as interviews with newsmakers and journalists, listener calls, and live chat room engagement. Gov. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Richard Dreyfuss, Greg Gutfeld, Fred Thompson, Ed Morrissey, Adam Baldwin, and Michelle Malkin have all appeared on the nightly show, as well as special live remote episodes. The show introduced webcams and an Ustream feed to the nightly show in 2011, and the name was changed to “The Larry O’Connor Show” later that year.
