Patricia Ann Carroll, a future American actress and comedian, entered the world on May 5, 1927. She has been in numerous American television shows, both as a main cast member and in guest appearances, and has also provided her voice for a number of animated shows. Her portrayal of Ursula in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, however, brought her widespread fame. In addition, her voice can be heard in a variety of cartoons.

The Tony Award, the Emmy Award, the Drama Desk Award, and the Grammy Award are just some of the honors for which Carroll has been nominated. Maurice Clifton Carroll and Kathryn Angela (née Meagher) Carroll tied the knot on May 5, 1927, in Shreveport, Louisiana. When Pat was five, her family moved to Los Angeles, where she began performing in local plays. She completed her time in the United States Army as a civilian acting technician, graduated from Immaculate Heart High School, and is now pursuing further study at the Catholic University of America.

Caroll made her acting debut as Lorelei Crawford in the 1948 picture Hometown Girl. From 1961 through 1964, Carroll appeared on the sitcom Make Room for Daddy, for which she was nominated for an Emmy in 1956 for her appearance on Caesar’s Hour. In the same episode of the drama anthology series The DuPont Show as June Allyson, she had a guest starring role. Carroll appeared on numerous talk programs throughout the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, including those hosted by Red Buttons, Danny Kaye, Red Skelton, and Carol Burnett.

In the 1965 production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical adaption of Cinderella, she had a co-starring role as “Prunella,” one of the evil stepsisters. Several major theater awards were given to Carroll in the late 1970s for her one-woman performance based on Marty Martin’s biography of Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, and her recorded version earned the Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word, Documentary, or Drama in 1980. Marty Martin penned the show’s script.

Carroll played Shirley Feeney’s mom Lily in the “Mother Knows Worst” episode of the hit ABC sitcom Laverne & Shirley from the beginning of 1976.

CBS created the show. Hope Stinson, the owner of the newspaper, was a character she played on the last season of the 1980s syndication hit The Ted Knight Show (the original Too Close for Comfort). In the popular TV series She’s the Sheriff, starring Suzanne Somers, she played Suzanne’s character’s mother, Gussie Holt. The year 1980 was pivotal for both of these parts (1987–1989).

Carroll has been lending his voice to animated features like Scooby-Doo, Galaxy High, Foofur, and A Goofy Movie since the late ’80s. Katrina Stoneheart was her character on the program Pound Puppies. She played Jon’s angry grandmother in the two Garfield TV specials (A Garfield Christmas and Garfield’s Thanksgiving).

In the 2005 re-release of Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro, she voiced the role of Granny. Carroll voiced Ursula the sea witch in the 1989 Disney film The Little Mermaid, performing the song “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” Carroll has said numerous times in interviews that this is one of her favorite roles.

She has since appeared in numerous other mediums, including the Kingdom Hearts video game series, the Kingdom Hearts spinoff television series, the Disney+ series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, and numerous Disney theme park attractions and shows. Carroll has also been a guest on shows including I’ve Got a Secret, Password, and Match Game 73, in addition to the aforementioned Celebrity Sweepstakes.

She’s been in several productions, including reimaginings of “Our Town” and “Electra” by Sophocles, and she’s a member of the Actors Studio. She played balding knight Sir John Falstaff in a 1990 Folger Shakespeare Theatre production of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. In his review of her show for The New York Times, theater reviewer Frank Rich had this to say: “Her entire performance is riveting and impressive, and I find her choice of material to be both risky and profound, with implications well beyond the confines of this play.

Ms. Carroll and Mr. Kahn have rekindled hope that talented women can successfully play leading roles in classic works that have previously been off-limits to them. With the help of Ms. Carroll and Mr. Kahn, this concept has been brought back to life. To be clear, female Hamlets have been there for some time, so this is not a new topic of conversation. Contrary to other recent experiments in casting, however, Ms. Carroll’s Falstaff is meant to delve into a character rather than serve as ideological window dressing for a performance solely concerned with novelty. Carroll married Lee Karsian in 1955; they had three children together, one of whom, Tara Karsian, became a famous actress.

As of 1976, they are no longer together. Siena College in Albany, New York, honored Carroll with an honorary doctorate in 1991. Carroll is a devout Roman Catholic, and she claims that her beliefs in God and the Catholic Church influence her choices in life. In 1963, Carroll sued Hanna-Barbera, claiming that she had been hired and signed on to play Jane Jetson on The Jetsons. Morey Amsterdam, who said he was miscast as George, was also a plaintiff in the case. The claim was brought because of a broken agreement.

However, she only filmed one episode before being replaced, despite the fact that her contract indicated that she would be paid US$500 each episode and that she would be guaranteed twenty-four episodes (i.e. a complete season’s worth of labor). Despite the fact that US$500 each episode was promised to her in her contracts, she has not received a dime so far.

Several accounts state that the change was implemented due to a dispute between Carroll’s Make Room for Daddy and another sponsor. Beginning in 1965, the case was closed.

She co-starred with Lesley Ann Warren in the 1965 television adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Cinderella. She went on to have recurring and regular parts on the sitcoms Too Close for Comfort (1980), which was renamed “The Ted Knight Show” in 1986, and Suzanne Somers’ show, She’s the Sheriff (1992). (1987).

The cropped-blonde comic was not particularly well-known as a supporting player in movies. She was most known for her performances in the movie Eggroll (1968) and The Brothers O’Toole (1973), both of which also starred Doris Day and John Astin. She produced and starred in the one-woman show Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, which garnered her numerous acting accolades in the late 1970s, including the Outer Critics Circle and the Drama Desk.

The audience saw that, despite her usual comedic antics, she had the ability to be a serious performer. She toured with the show for four years and won a Grammy for her interpretation of their 1981 recording. Almost thirty years after she last performed on Broadway, she returned for a role in “Dancing in the End Zone” (1985).

Many of Pat’s ardent fans were taken aback by her sudden announcement of her desire to act in this way. She started acting in Shakespeare productions and received immediate appreciation for her performances. Both her portrayals of Sir John Falstaff in “The Merry Wives of Windsor” and the Nurse in “Romeo and Juliet” earned her Helen Hayes Awards. She won trophies for both of these shows.

She has played Volpone, Mother Courage (for which she won another Helen Hayes medal), the Theater Manager in “Our Town,” and the Chorus in a Broadway production of “Electra,” among other challenging parts.

She has shown that she is still down for a good laugh by appearing in various productions of the offbeat musical comedy “Nunsense,” playing the character of the Reverend Mother. She has directed musical adaptations of “Alice in Wonderland” and “Private Lives” for the Kennedy Center’s stage “Assisting Performers. Not only that, but she also directs.

Pat has been a successful voice actor for animated TV shows since the late 1980s. He is most recognized for his roles as the sea witch Ursula in Disney’s The Little Mermaid  and as several characters in A Goofy Movie. Despite the passing of a decade, the feisty character woman has kept up her voice work for a variety of Disney characters, as well as delivering voices for video games and other unique projects. She has a lengthy filmography that includes roles in a wide variety of classic films like Outside Sales (2006), Freedom Writers (2007), Nancy Drew, Bridesmaids, and BFFs.

Her most recent appearance was as Old Lady Crowley in the Disney TV movie Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, and she also made a guest appearance on the ER TV show (1994). (2017). Her late husband, Lee Karsian, ran a talent agency and was a successful manager, and the three children they had together are all accomplished performers (eldest son Sean, daughters Kerry and Tara). Actress Tara Karsian has performed on both the big and small screens. Our casting director is Kerry Karsian.
