Rodger O. Riney is an American businessman and the founder of Scottrade, which was acquired by TD Ameritrade in 2017. Riney saw an opportunity to provide lower commission trades after the brokerage sector was deregulated in 1975. Scottsdale Securities was created by him in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1980.

The Alzheimer’s Association, the Humane Society of the United States, and the Salvation Army are among the non-profit groups that Riney actively supports. He and his wife Paula gave $15 million to research into Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease cures in 2019. Riney has multiple myeloma and contributed $5 million to fund research in the disease in 2017.
He gave $20 million to Washington University School of Medicine in 2018. The Paula C. and Rodger O. Riney Blood Cancer Research Initiative Fund was formed as a consequence of the $20 million donation.
