The Vamps Biography/Wiki

Because the Vamps kept changing their sound and were very hands-on with their music, they were able to stand out from the other boy bands that came out after One Direction’s success. When the group came out in 2012 with popular cover song videos, they soon started putting out their own albums and singles that were very popular, too. “Can We Dance,” “Last Night,” and other hits helped 2014’s platinum-selling Meet the Vamps reach number two in the UK. During this album and Wake Up in 2015, the music was bright and acoustic-leaning. In 2017, Night & Day, the music was more EDM-based. During their time as young adults, Vamps incorporated both of these styles into their new album, Cherry Blossom, which came out in 2020.

James McVey, a guitarist, decided to look for talent on YouTube when he wanted to start a band in 2012. This was a very different way to find people to play in a band. Bradley Simpson, a singer and songwriter, was the first person he reached out to through his own YouTube channel.  After posting cover versions on YouTube, the four-piece quickly gained a lot of fans, and at the end of 2012, they signed a deal with Mercury Records. The Vamps were a support act for pop band McFly on their 2013 Memory Lane tour. The Vamps’ fan base quickly grew, and their first self-penned material came out soon after.

Their first single, “Can We Dance,” was first shown on YouTube, where the group is from. It had more than a million views in two weeks. “Can We Dance” was released officially in October 2013. It came in at number two on the official UK singles chart at the time. In April 2014, the Vamps released their first album, Meet the Vamps, in the middle of a lot of press events. For their third consecutive U.K. Top Ten single, the band’s song “Late Night” came in at number two.

The next year, they released their second album, Wake Up, which had production from Steve Mac, Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk, and other people. A single from the album, “Wake Up,” was a big hit in the U.K. and was called “Rest Your Love.” Vamps went on their Wake Up World Tour in January 2016. As well, they sang a cover of Carl Douglas’ “Kung Fu Fighting” for Kung Fu Panda 3.

For their single “All Night” in October 2016, the Vamps teamed up with a Norwegian DJ named Matoma. The song marked the band’s third full-length album. First, Night & Day came out in July 2017 as the Night Edition. The album came out at the top of the charts in the UK. It had the single “Middle of the Night,” which was made with the help of a Danish EDM producer called Martin Jensen. Machine Gun Kelly and Kriss Kross Amsterdam worked on the Day Edition, which came out a year later. During their tour, the group released the “Missing You” EP in April of this year.

To make their next album, the Vamps relaxed and improvised. They worked with a small group of people, including Jack & Coke, Lostboy, and JHart, with Simpson in charge of most of the production. They kept writing songs even as the COVID-19 global pandemic hit. During this time, the band wrote the “Married in Vegas” single for July 2020. When Cherry Blossom came out in October, this was the first track we heard. It gave us a taste of what to expect.

In our case, we’ve been listening to The Vamps’ new album all week long, and we’re not alone.
