Eddie Vedder is a well-known American musician, known worldwide as the leading rock alternative, ‘Pearl Jam’ vocalist and guitarist. He was ranked #7 in the ‘Best Lead Singers of All Time’ magazine list. With a distinctive sound and strong vocals, Vedder changed the world’s perception of alternative rock by adding new dimensions to the musical style. He transfigured how texts were written, invoked the use of history, and based them on personal, social, and political topics. Vedder had a tumultuous early life, but he channeled his energies towards music rather than bowing.

He served as a band member for ‘Temple of the Dog’ and ‘Pearl Jam’ who had their cartooning albums greatly struck the music industry in the 1990s. The contribution of Vedder to music, however, is not limited to these bands alone. He has been making two solo albums over the years, ‘Into the Wild’ and ‘Ukulele Songs.’ He also participates actively in soundtrack work and contributes to other artists’ albums

Eddie Vedder was born on 23 December 1964 in Evanston, Illinois to Karan Lee Vedder and Edward Louis Severson Jr., under the leadership of Edward Louis Severson III.

When Vedder was only one year old, his parents separated and Peter Mueller was remarried to his mother. Vedder believed Mueller to be his biological father in his childhood and was called Edward Mueller.

The family moved to San Diego, California in the mid-seventies. Since his family was large and extensive, the young Vedder turned to music to comfort himself with seven siblings. During this time, he attended high school in San Dieguito.

His mother and Mueller divorced when Vedder was in his adolescence. He chose not to change high school with his stepfather as his mother moved to Chicago. He took a drug store night’s job. He realized his true parentage during this time.

Since it became increasingly difficult for him to manage work and studies, he left high school and joined his family in Chicago. Meanwhile, Eddie Vedder changed his name. In the early 1980s, he earned his high school GED as a waiter. Vedder returned to San Diego in 1984. He took several strange jobs while he was pursuing a music career. He started with demo tapes and worked in several San Diego bands.

In 1988, he became the band’s vocalist, Bad Radio. The band’s music, centered on progressive funk, has since been incorporated into alternative rock sound.

His vocals impressed him and invited him to work on a new project, the Temple of the Dog, by Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament. He not only gave the album background vocals, but he also sang a duet with Cornell. ‘Temple of the Dog’ was published on A&M Records in 1991.

Pearl Jam was formed in 1990 by Ament, Gossard, and McCready while working on ‘Temple of Dog.’ Vedder was recruited as one of the band’s drummers. In 1991, the band signed to Epic Records and released their debut album, ‘Ten.’

With their first album, ‘Ten’ Pearl Jam turned into alternative music instead of mainstream music. The risk paid off well as ‘Ten’ became the best-selling alternative music album with 13x Platinum certification.

Shortly after the release, ‘Ten’ produced waves in the brotherhood of music. His single, ‘Jeremy’ was nominated for two Grammy and four MTV Video Music Awards. It’s now #207 in the list of 50 Greatest Albums of All Time in Rolling Stone magazine and #11 in the List of 100 Greatest Songs in the 90s.

The band toured extensively after the superlative success of ‘Ten.’ After the tour without much ado, the band went to the studio to record their second offer, “Vs.” The album was released in 1993 and recorded the most copies sold in one week.

‘Vs.’ received an overwhelming reaction from music fans that can be judged by the fact that it was in #1 on Billboard 200 for a straight five weeks. The album was nominated for best rock album by Grammy Award. His songs, ‘Daughter’ and ‘Go’ were nominated for each Grammy award. With two successful albums back and forth, Pearl Jam had expectations that the music scenario would change. With intense pressure bowing, the band decided to cut the promotional and music video. In addition, Ticketmaster boycotted his visits to the United States.

The latter half of 1994 saw the third studio album, ‘Vitalogy,’ released by Pearl Jam. The album then created a hat trick and became the third straight album to achieve a multiplatinum status. The role of Vedder in the band was changed, with rhythm guitar, backup vocals, and drumming as his feature.

Interestingly, ‘Vitalogy” songs were the subject of the band members’ intense fame pressures. The album was nominated for two Grammy Awards. His single ‘Spin the Black Circle’ won the best hard rock performance Grammy Award. The album was listed at #492 in the list of the 500 greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

In 1998, their fourth studio album, ‘No Code,’ was released. The upward-mounted graph stopped as ‘No Code’ despite its debut at #1 on the Billboard 200, which did not keep the listeners’ interest and soon faded into the charts. In 1998, the band released their fifth album, ‘Yield.’ His single ‘Do the Evolution’ was appointed to the Grammy Best Hard Rock Performance.

In 1998, ‘Last Kiss’ was written on a cover by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers of the 1960s. The song, released as a Christmas single on the Billboard, broke all previous records and peaked at #2 to become the highest single in Pearl Jam’s charts.

The band’s sixth studio album, ‘Binaural,’ was released in 2000. His single, ‘Grievance,’ was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance by Grammy. In the meantime, the band released 72 live albums from 2000 to 2001.

Their seventh consecutive studio album ‘Riot Act’ was released in 2002 by ‘Pearl Jam.’ After the year, they came together with the track ‘Man of the Hour’ for 2003, ‘Big Fish’ nominated for a Golden Globe award. Vedder wrote the song. The band ‘Pearl Jam’ has released three more studio albums, each in 2006, 2009, and 2013, including ‘Pearl Jam,’ Backspacer, and ‘Lightning Bolt.’

Vedder’s career has not only been limited to his ‘Pearl Jam’ contribution. In contrast, he dominated the music scene with solos, including ‘Dream Man Walking,’ ‘I Am Sam’ and ‘Brokendown Melody,’ ‘Body of War,’ ‘Reign Over Me’ and ‘Better Days. He has compiled several compilations and soundtracks.

He contributed songs worthy of an album for the 2007 film ‘Into the Wild,’ including coverings to the songs ‘Hard Sun’ and ‘Society.’ Based on folk sound, his album for the girls was very appreciated for winning several Golden Globe and Grammy nominations. In 2008, he launched his debut solo tour to promote “Into the Wild,” a soundtrack that covers the country’s length and width.

After a series of contributions as a band member in films and a number of compilations and soundtracks, Vedder finally released his second album, “Ukulele Songs,” on 31 May 2011. As explained in the title, the songs and coverings were played on a ukulele.

The contribution of Vedder as a member of the band was not limited to ‘Temple of the Dog’ and ‘Pearl Jam.’ He performed and recorded with many other artists and bands instead. In addition, he also performed live with other artists.

Vedder tried to perform his hand and his debut was a role for the movie, “Singles.” This was followed by “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.” He appeared on a number of documentaries and TV shows ‘Portlandia’ His contribution to the Alternative Rock Band as a vocalist and one of the leading guitarists was top class. The band’s first three albums gained platinum status and won several Grammy nominations.
