Most of the year, she is based out of Santa Fe, New Mexico. At fan conventions and on stage around the country, she has appeared. Henry Bushkin and I had a romance. Johnny Carson’s lawyer, Henry, worked for him for 18 years. Henry Bushkin’s book Johnny Carson makes frequent references to Joyce. We never had an argument, and I don’t talk about it often. After her disagreement with the producers, she made John [Ritter] and I the adversary as part of her publicity tour to make herself appear innocent.

Even though I’ve tried to contact her numerous times over the past two decades and have even given her the phone number for the phone that rings directly beside my bed, to no avail, she continues to publicly and in the press to claim that I don’t communicate with her.

Regarding Three’s Company (1976) and the movie industry, in 2009: Three’s Company was truly a gift to me. As a result it, I am now financially secure and able to pursue a meaningful life filled with learning and discovery. I didn’t want to be a part of Hollywood because it’s cruel, horrible, and the reverse of what the theatre is. In any case, now that I’m older, I’m thrilled to be able to work full-time.

The creators of the failed spin-off Three’s a Crowd (1984) said she wanted her character Janet to be Jack’s love interest in the original Three’s Company (1976). In that case, why didn’t they inquire about my interest in joining their ranks? Perhaps I would have been more forthright in my assessment of what a misery it would be to work with them again.

When they spun off, I believe they committed two critical errors. First and foremost, they failed to recognize the critical role played by the audience’s feelings of attachment and closeness to the other characters. Second, they had no idea how close Jack and Janet were. She was the thorn in his side, or rather, the voice of reason in his head.

A lot of comedy is lost if there isn’t a constant source of friction. Both Janet and I weren’t required to perform the part. I can’t see working with these producers again, either. However, this relationship has to be included in the new program in some form.
