Adam Richard Wiles, who would later become known as Calvin Harris, was born on January 17, 1984 in Dumfries, Scotland. He was the third and last child to be born to biochemist David Wiles and his wife Pamela. He was raised in Dumfries with his elder brother Edward and older sister Sophie, where he also received his education at the ‘Dumfries High School.’ He was only a youngster when he developed an interest in electronic music and in 1999 he started making recordings in his bedroom.

In 2002, he added two additional songs to his discography that were published on the Prima Facie label. After spending a short but futile period of time in London, he moved back to Dumfries, where he created solo recordings at home and uploaded them to his “Myspace” page. He then returned to Dumfries. Mark Gillespie, a talent booker, saw Harris when he gradually gained popularity on Myspace and signed him to his own newly founded organisation. Harris is now an employee of Mark Gillespie’s company. 2006 was the year that he signed contracts with Sony BMG, EMI, and Three Six Zero Group. Later on in the same year, he produced a remix of the hit “Rock Steady” by the English-Canadian girl group “All Saints.”

On June 15, 2007, his first album created in a recording studio, titled “I Created Disco,” was released by Columbia Records. He was solely responsible for the composition, production, and performance of all 14 songs on the album. It soon climbed to the top spot on the UK Dance Albums Chart after making its debut at number eight on the UK Albums Chart. Gold certification was bestowed to it by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) on May 23, 2008. As part of his collaboration with the rapper Dizzied Rascal, he was responsible for writing and performing the hook for the latter artist’s track “Dance with Me.” After its first release on June 22, 2008, the song quickly ascended to number one on the UK Singles Chart and remained at that position for a total of four weeks.

On August 14, 2009, his second studio album, titled “Ready for the Weekend,” was released by “Columbia Records.” The album shot straight to the top of the UK Albums Charts at its first release. Eleven of the album’s fourteen songs were written and performed by him, and he also produced the record. On August 23, 2009, he maintained his great cooperation with Dizzied Rascal by creating the smash song “Holiday,” which was released by the latter. The song that he wrote for the girl group known as “The Saturdays” but was turned down by them went on to become the most popular single in the United Kingdom.

The first song to be released from the album titled “Ready for the Weekend,” titled “I’m Not Alone,” arrived at number one on the UK Singles Chart. The album has been given a gold certification by BPI. Harris was granted composition credit for Chris Brown’s popular single “Yeah 3x,” which was released in October 2010, as a result of the song’s similarity to Chris Brown’s version of the tune.

It was the last song he sung as a regular performer for his own efforts, and it was released on February 8, 2010. The song was titled “You Used to Hold Me,” and it was the fourth and final single from the album “Ready for the Weekend.” Since 2011, he has shifted his primary attention toward the production of music, and he often features guest vocalists on his songs.

During this same period, he also took the choice to quit performing in live events, and as a result of this decision, he broke ways with the band that he had been connected with as the main singer. After that, he went on to create new versions of other songs, such as Mr. Hudson’s “Supernova,” Katy Perry’s “Waking Up in Vegas,” and Shakira’s “She Wolf.” While this was going on, he established the record label Fly Eye Records in March of 2010, and by 2014, they had formed a partnership with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

On August 19, 2011, he released ‘Feel So Close,’ the second single from his third studio album, ’18 Months.’ The album wasn’t released until October 26, 2012, after it had already been preceded by the single. Not only was it his comeback to singing, but it was also his first solo effort to reach #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was successful in both of these endeavours.

In 2011, he served as a support act for Barbadian recording artist Rihanna on the European portion of her third world concert tour. The tour was her third trip around the world. After that, he went on to collaborate with Rihanna in writing and producing the song “Where Have You Been” for her sixth studio album, “Talk That Talk,” as well as composing and producing the song “We Found Love,” which is also included on the album (2011).

His song “We Found Love” was also featured on the CD that he released titled “18 Months.” The song climbed to the very top of charts all over the globe, including the Rhythmic (Billboard) chart in the United States, the UK Singles chart, and the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States, where it remained for ten consecutive weeks. His first song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States was titled “We Found Love.” Over time, it worked its way up the Billboard Hot 100 all-time top hundred songs chart to land at position #24. It was awarded a number of gold and platinum certifications, including 9 Platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as well as 2 Platinum from the United Kingdom (BPI).

His third studio album, titled “18 Months,” focused more on an electro house feel than his typical nu-disco approach, and it debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart for the second week in a row. The album “18 Months” and the song “We Found Love” starring Rihanna both had eight singles that charted in the top 10 of the UK Tracks Chart, making it the first album in music history to have nine singles that landed in the top ten. As a direct consequence of this, he was able to surpass Michael Jackson’s prior record.

Although ’18 Months’ was considered for a Grammy Award in the area of Best Dance/Electronica Album, two of the album’s tracks, ‘Let’s Go’ and ‘Sweet Nothing,’ were considered for Grammy Awards in the category of Best Dance Recording at the 55th and 56th Annual Grammy Awards, respectively. He won the prestigious Ivor Novella Awards for ‘Songwriter of the Year’ in May 2013, which he described as “probably the biggest success of my entire life.” In February 2013, he became the first exclusive resident DJ of the renowned hotel group ‘Hakkas a Group in Las Vegas, and in January 2015, the contract was extended for another three years. He also said that winning the award was “probably the biggest success of my entire life.”

It was published on October 31, 2014, and was titled ‘Motion.’ It includes collaborations with DJs such as Farebeats and R3hab, singers such as John Newman and Gwen Stefani, and bands such as Hurts, amongst others. Although ‘Motion’ debuted at position #2 on the UK Albums Chart and #5 on the UK Billboard 200, the album’s first three songs all debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart: ‘Blame,’ ‘Under Control,’ and ‘Summer.’

It was disclosed on March 30, 2015 that he was a co-owner of the music streaming service Tidal, which requires users to pay a membership fee. In that particular year, he remained at the top of the list of highest-paid DJs for the third year running. His new album, which will be titled “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1,” will be released on June 30, 2017, and will include guest vocals from a variety of artists, including Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, Big Sean, and Young Thug, among others. In addition to that, he has contributed to the production of songs for companies such as “Coca-Cola” and “Kia Motors,” and he has acted in commercials for “Pepsi” and “Emporia Armani.” Over the course of his life, Harris has been active in a variety of philanthropic causes and activities.

Between the months of April 2013 and June 2014, he dated Rita Ora, a British singer and actor. Between the months of March 2015 and June 2016, he dated Taylor Swift, an American singer-songwriter. Harris never developed alcoholism, but at the age of 24, he decided to abstain from all forms of alcohol use. Harris’s “Bounce” was the first single released from his third studio album, and it was issued in June of 2011. The album itself was published in 2010. Following that, Harris released “Feel So Close,” which became his first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. The song debuted at number twelve on the list until it was removed off it. On his most recent album, which also features Florence Welch, Harris collaborated with a number of other musicians, including Ellie Goulding, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and Kelis, among others, including Florence Welch.

At the MTV Video Music Awards in 2012, he was given the title of house DJ and the award for Best Electronic Video for his performance of the song “Feel So Close.” Both of these awards were for the song. During the ceremony, Harris was also presented with the trophy for Video of the Year for his work on the song “We Found Love” with Rihanna. He brought this honours home with him. The album “18 Months” was ultimately made available for purchase on October 26, 2012 via Columbia Records after being the subject of a number of promotional endeavours over a period of many months.

After reaching number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2014, “Summer” overtook Harris’s previous record as the artist’s most successful single to that date. The song was released as a single off of his fourth album titled “Motion,” which was released in November 2014 and includes another collaboration with Ellie Goulding called “Outside” and the track titled “Blame,” which features James Newman as a guest artist. The song was one of the greatest hits of that year.

The DJ made his return to the music scene in July of 2015 with the release of a single with the working title “How Deep Is Your Love.” The DJ and the music production collective known as Disciples, whose headquarters are located in London, worked together on the creation of this tune. In April of 2016, he announced that he had worked with Rihanna once again on a new song that was going to be named “This Is What You Came for.” The song was supposed to be a collaboration between the two of them. The song ultimately became a massive success for Harris and RiRi once they released it. It attained its best place on the Billboard Hot 100 to this point, which was No. 6 overall.

The world-famous DJ Calvin Harris described his performance at Liverpool’s trophy procession as the “best gig of his life,” but he claimed that the show was almost called off when the power to his decks was cut off while they were being transported on an open-top bus. Calvin Harris is credited with bringing the trophy to Liverpool. On March 30, 2015, it was announced that Harris, along with a number of other artists, is a co-owner of the music streaming website Tidal. Tidal is owned by a group of musicians. The service specializes on high-definition music videos and audio that has not been compressed in any way. Tindal’s parent business, Aspire, was acquired by the rapper Jay Z in the first quarter of the year 2015. Tidal is now owned by a total of 16 artists, including Kanye West, Beyoncé, Madonna, Chris Martin, and Nicki Minaj among them.

The other artists each retain a 3 percent equity part in the company. In order to meet the growing demand for streaming within the new music industry and to compete with other streaming platforms like Spotify, which have been criticized for their inadequate payment of royalties, those involved in the project came up with the idea of establishing a subscription service that would be entirely owned by the artists who would be using it.
