Chance the Rapper

His father, Ken Williams Bennett, gave him the name Chancellor Jonathan Bennett when he was born on April 16, 1993, in West Chatham, Chicago, Illinois, United States. His father, a former adviser to former Chicago mayor and senator Richard M. Daley, is currently serving as deputy chief of staff to Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Bennett has a younger brother, Taylor Bennett, who is also a rapper, and the two of them are quite close.

Bennett attended Jones College Prep High School, where he earned his education. In his freshman year, he started a hip hop duet with a friend named ‘Instrumentality,’ which went on to become successful. His first public performances took place in the ‘YOUmedia Lyricist Loft,’ which is located within the ‘Harold Washington Library.’ In 2013, Chance the Rapper began dating Kirsten, who is a model. The couple became parents to their first child, a daughter named Kensli, in September of that year.

In 2016, the couple had a falling out and decided to no longer live together. Eventually, the two were able to reconcile and were married on March 9, 2019. During the month of September 2019, the couple announced the birth of their second daughter, Marli. Bennett considers himself to be a committed Christian and frequently refers to Christ in his lyrics. Bennett is an outspoken supporter of the #SaveChicago campaign. In order to combat brutality and gun violence, the campaign has been launched.

As part of the ‘My Brother’s Keeper Challenge,’ which was launched by the United States Federal Government to encourage civic leaders to intervene in the lives of young men of color and promote racial fairness, he also met with then-President Obama to discuss the campaign. Bennett, who was born in Chicago, Illinois, developed a liking for singing from a young age.

Although his father wished for him to pursue a career in the corporate world, he desired to be a musician. Bennett and a friend developed their own hip-hop duet, which they named ‘Instrumentality.’ Bennett, a lifelong fan of soul and jazz, was first introduced to hip-hop through Kanye West’s debut album, ‘The College Dropout,’ which piqued his interest. Bennett abandoned his academic pursuits to pursue a professional music career.

He released many singles and a mixtape, but it was his second mixtape ‘Acid Rap’ that was the catalyst for his professional breakthrough. After releasing his third mixtape ‘Coloring Book,’ Bennett saw his professional trajectory reach a new high point. The album received three ‘Grammy’ nominations. It also made history by being the first streaming-only album to be nominated for a Grammy Award.

Bennett has collaborated with a variety of other musicians in addition to his solo endeavors. He partnered with the main vocalist of the band ‘The Social Experiment’ to create the popular album titled ‘Surf,’ which became a hit in the music industry. Chance the Rapper was suspended for ten days during his senior year at Jones College Prep High School for marijuana use. He used that time to make his first solo mixtape, 10 Day, which was released in 2011.

Flying Lotus produced the 14-track project, which featured collaborations with future regular collaborator Vic Mensa as well as Flying Lotus’ production. It was made available for free download on the mixtape website DatPiff. Previously, Chance had caught the attention of Complex magazine, which featured him in its “10 new Chicago rappers to watch out for” feature in February 2012, noting that “Chance has one of the more distinct flows and voices of any new artist in the game.”

Chance has since gone on to become a household name. A collaboration with Childish Gambino on the single “They Don’t Like Me,” which appeared on his Royalty mixtape in 2012, opened the door to yet another opportunity. Gambino, whose real name is Donald Glover, has invited Chance the Rapper to open for him on his next tour. Chance was already working on his second mixtape, Acid Rap, which would be the release that would catapult him to the next level of popularity.

After being made available as a free download again on April 30, 2013, it featured collaborations with Twista and Gambino and was nearly completely smothered with critical acclaim. The Chicago Tribune described Chance as “a wide-eyed talent figuring out the world one deeply felt rap song at a time,” while Spin described him as “a wide-eyed talent figuring out the world one deeply felt rap song at a time.” As a result of his popularity with record companies, he’s being sought by a slew of interested parties.

Those labels would be extremely dissatisfied. Even though he had meetings with the labels, he ultimately decided that he would rather keep his artistic independence while exploring the limitations of a label-free career. He explained to The Fader in 2015 that “they’re almost like, ‘Just keep going.’ ” Your company is embarking on a journey into new territory, and you’re assisting in shedding light on what [the future of the company] will look like.

” It’s a strategy that relies on cash from touring and retail sales, but it allows him to pursue his musical interests to their fullest. While many expected more of the same from him, maybe on a major label, he instead collaborated with trumpeter Nico Segal (aka Donnie Trumpet) and a group of musicians known as The Social Experiment on an album titled Surf, which became a critical success. Chance then gave out his next project as well, a six-track mixtape recorded with Lil B. Chance then gave away his next project as well. Chance the Rapper collaborated with his idol, Kanye West, on tracks for the latter’s The Life of Pablo album, which was released at the beginning of 2016.

A group of rappers and singers met with President Barack Obama at the White House to discuss the My Brother’s Keeper Challenge, which aims to provide equal chances for young people. It was yet another manifestation of his rising involvement, which culminated in his being selected Outstanding Youth of the Year by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel in 2014.

Governor Bruce Rauner and Mayor Rahm Emanuel met in March 2017 to discuss public schools in Chicago. Later, he told reporters, “Governor Rauner is still refusing to commit to giving Chicago’s kids a shot,” and he donated $1 million of his own money in an effort to draw attention to the concerns and entice other benefactors to contribute. The #SaveChicago movement, an anti-violence initiative in a city with a worrying murder rate, has also played an important role in his life.

When it was announced in July 2018 that Chance had purchased the Chicagoist news website, which had been idle since November of the previous year, the internet community reacted positively. According to the Chicagoist, “I’m incredibly excited to be continuing the work of the Chicagoist, which is a vital local platform for Chicago news, events, and entertainment,” says the publisher.

We look forward to re-launching the station and providing the residents of Chicago with an independent media platform that is committed to promoting diverse voices and content.” Chance the rapper’s third free mixtape, Coloring Book, was released in May of this year. Once again, he was accompanied by a diverse group of guests, including Kanye West, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, T-Pain, and Justin Bieber. The album became the first ever to chart on the Billboard 200 solely on the basis of streaming, garnering 57.3 million streams in its first week of release.

Coloring Book was praised by Entertainment Weekly, which noted that it had some sequencing flaws but praised the artistry on display, concluding that it “confirms Chance’s place as one of hip-most hop’s promising — and most uplifting — emerging artists.” It was popular in best-of-year polls and among other musicians for its fusion of soul, gospel, hip hop, and the music of Social Experiment, among other influences. According to Mac Miller, it was “very very very very good.”

“I enjoy music that gives me the impression that everything is going to be all right.” With Chance winning three Grammy Awards in 2017, the music industry agreed with him. Chance, on the other hand, was already in a holiday mood, having embraced the spirit of the season with “Merry Christmas Lil Mama,” a Yuletide collaboration with singer Jeremih, a few months previously.

In the midst of rumors that he was about to release a new album, Chance the Rapper instead released four new tracks in mid-July of this year. All four songs — “Work Out,” “Wala Cam,” “I Might Need Security,” and “65th & Ingleside” — had allusions to the artist’s hometown of Los Angeles. ‘The Big Day is the title of the debut album. Chance the Rapper eventually released his debut full-length studio album, The Big Day, in July of this year, after months of teasing that new music will be released.

The album received generally positive — if slightly varied — reviews, and it featured a diverse array of artists, including John Legend, Shawn Mendes, and Death Cab for Cutie. It debuted at No. Bennett made his television debut on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ on October 27, 2015, to perform a new song named ‘Angels.’ A little later in the year, he made a guest appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ during which he debuted yet another song, named ‘Somewhere in Paradise.’

Bennett was a co-writer and featured on Kanye West’s song ‘Ultralight Beam’ from the album ‘The Life of Pablo,’ which was released in 2016. Aside from “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. Immediately following his work with West, he collaborated with hip-hop duo ‘Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ on the tune ‘Need To Know,’ which appeared on the album ‘This Unruly Mess I’ve Made,’ which was released in 2013.

He then appeared on Skrillex’s remix of Hundred Waters’ ‘Show Me Love,’ which was released in 2013. Bennett released his third mixtape, titled ‘Coloring Book,’ in May of this year. The mixtape was exclusively available on Apple Music, and it debuted at number eight on the ‘Billboard 200’ chart. The mixtape’s soundtrack received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both the fans and the critics.

He even had a role in it as well as in the ‘Nestle Kit Kat’ television advertisement. San Diego was the starting point for his ‘Magnificent Coloring World Tour,’ which began in September 2016.

He was the driving force behind the first-ever music festival, which took place at ‘U.S. Cellular Field’ on Chicago’s South Side. In February 2017, he was a guest performer at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Later in the year, his song ‘Last Christmas,’ which was performed on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ was nominated for a ‘Emmy Award,’ and he was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Bennett performed on the third day of the ‘Lollapalooza Music Festival’ in August of 2017. The next year, he was featured in the song ‘Logout,’ which was taken from Saba’s album ‘Care for Me,’ which was released the same year. Additionally, he appears on Cardi B’s debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy,’ in the song ‘Best Life.’ Two new singles, titled ‘My Own Thing’ and ‘The Man Who Has Everything,’ were published in November 2018 in preparation for his upcoming debut studio album, which will be released in early 2019. He was also included in the song ‘Cross Me,’
