David Pilkey Sr. and Barbara Pembridge Pilkey welcomed their son Dav Pilkey into the world on March 4, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio. Cindy is the only sibling he has that is older. Both attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia were identified in him while he was in elementary school in Elyria, Ohio.
