American television host David Michael Letterman, better known simply as David Letterman, has held the position of late-night talk show host for the longest continuous run in the history of American television. His late-night talk show, “Late Night with David Letterman,” aired on NBC for 33 years, from its debut on February 1, 1982, until 2015.
