The first thing that we see in the teaser is a discussion taking place between Foreman (Davis) and his boxing instructor and trainer, Doc Broadus. In the background, Nas’s “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)” can be heard playing (Whitaker). The two had a conversation about the wrath that is still there inside the future champion, which hints that the movie would not just concentrate on Foreman’s boxing career, but also on his own mental and emotional battles outside of the ring. As we witness the boxer develop from a tormented child into an up-and-coming professional athlete, the unimaginable occurs when a knockout strike causes Foreman to have a short glimpse of death.

The boxer, upon his return from whatever he encountered in the hereafter, comes to the conclusion that he would want to follow a religious profession. He chooses to hang up his gloves and instead enter the priesthood. With his newfound insight, he decides to launch a community club that would teach children the sport that he is so passionate about under the direction of the most skilled athletes in the world. However, when Foreman realizes that preaching and teaching aren’t enough to pay his expenses, he finds himself tempted back into the ring. We witness George Foreman going back to his peak physique and getting ready to gloriously recover his position as the heavyweight king of the world via a series of training montages (as any good sports biopic would feature), as is typical of any excellent sports movie.

Following a number of delays in its initial release, we are relieved to see that a trailer for the sports drama directed by George Tillman Jr. has at long last been given the go-light. You may recognize the name of the director from fan-favorite productions such as The Hate U Give and Men of Honor; however, it was his involvement in the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious, which was released in 2009, that has us really excited about what the director will do with his latest biographical drama. Tillman Jr. will direct the film based on a screenplay that he and Frank Baldwin have written. The script is an adaptation of a movie narrative that was developed by the two of them together with Dan Gordon.
