American singer-songwriter and former talk show presenter Gary Chapman was born on August 19, 1957, in Waurika, Oklahoma. Gary Chapman grew raised in De Leon, Texas, the son of an Assembly of God minister.  When he graduated from university, he relocated to Nashville and immediately found work as the bass player for The Rambos.
