Joseph (Joe) Madison (born June 16, 1949) is an American radio talk-show host and activist who goes by the moniker “The Black Eagle” or “Madison.”
Madison was up in Ohio, where he had a good relationship with his parents and grandparents, both of whom were influential in his life. He received his education in the Ohio public school system and went to college after graduating from high school. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
From 1969 to 1970, he worked in public relations for General Motors Corporation. In 1970–71, he worked as a “statistician” with the St Louis Cardinals football team. From 1971 until 1974, he worked in urban affairs at Seymour & Lundy Assoc.

In 1978, he was named national political director of the NAACP by Benjamin Hooks. He was also a director of COTE and the SEIU’s political director. He was a member of the NAACP’s national board of directors and is still a life member.
Joe Madison presented events related to the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s in 2013 and 2014. Former Johnson Publishing Company news reporter Simeon Booker, Rev. Bernice King (youngest daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) and Luci Baines Johnson (youngest daughter of President Lyndon Johnson), and singer/activist Harry Belafonte were among the special guests.
Joe Madison presented a record-breaking marathon on his SIRIUS XM talk programme from February 25 to 27, 2015, in which he spoke for 52 hours. The broadcast has been officially registered with the Guinness Book of World Records. He could only take three little breaks every hour during the race. He could only leave the studio at the top of the hour (restroom break, etc.). His every step was being recorded and watched by a camera. In compliance with Guinness World Record Organization standards, volunteers were called in to serve as witnesses and timekeepers for documentation purposes. The marathon acted as a platform for him to solicit donations for the new National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, DC, from his listeners and supporters. During the marathon, Joe Madison spoke with Dr. Lonnie Bunch, the museum’s director. Guests included politicians, celebrities, historians, and other SIRIUS talk show hosts, among others. While Joe was on the air, many local TV news stations came around to film and interview him.
Madison has participated in hunger strikes and supported causes ranging from Sudanese slavery to winning a star for the Four Tops on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in addition to his broadcasts. This was largely due to Joe Madison’s help in raising the $30,000.00 required to receive a Hollywood Star (by actively pushing his SIRIUS talk show listeners to give because of the significance of Dick Gregory being recognised). Thanks to Joe’s efforts, the entire sum was raised in two weeks.
