The Kansas City Chiefs are an American football club that competes professionally and calls Kansas City, Missouri, home. They are a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) West division of the National Football League (NFL), which they represent when participating in the NFL. A successful businessman, Lamar Hunt, established the franchise in 1960 named Dallas Texans. The club was an original American Football League (AFL) participant. In 1963, the club moved to its present location in Kansas City and adopted its current name.
