He got married to model and actress Patti Hansen on December 18, 1983, and the pair had two kids.He had a head injury on 27 April 2006 for which he was operated on in New Zealand.

His autobiography ‘Life’ was published on 26 October 2010. It was written with the help of James Fox. This popular guitarist is the owner of one of the largest private collections of musical instruments, including thousands of guitars of different fabrics.

Keith Richards was arguably the best and most influential guitarist in rock & roll history. He was the main creator of the sound which would make Rolling Stones one of the most legendary bands in rock and roll. Blessed with exceptional timing and minimalism, Richard borrowed from Chuck Berry’s playbooks and a few classic blues performers in the form of a sound that was clearly his own, borrowing from him innumerable guitarists who had moved but rarely had the same impact.

The narrow angles of the melodic feeling of Richards would dominate his songwriting alongside vocalist Mick Jagger, who co-wrote almost all of the best-known songs. If the Stones were widely viewed in their day as rock’s ultimate bad guys, Richards was the man who carried their battle and its swaggering style, lawlessness, immorality, and the outsize drug and alcohol usage generated a legend that could fill a book (and did when Richards published his memoirs, Life, in 2010). The Stones began as blues purists, with the lead work of Brian Jones intertwined with Keith’s rhythms.

But as they extended their range with Jones’ experimentalism in the 1960s, it was Richards who retained his music based on rock and blues roots. After Jones left the band, Richards seized more control of the music from Stones and he produced a sinewy rhythm that would propel masterpieces like Sticky Fingers and Exile in Main St, together with Charlie Watts’ less-is-more backbeat.

Richards’ loyalty to the Stones was strong enough for the band to be almost collapsing and for Jagger to ultimately release an album under his own banner, Talk Is Cheap in 1988, to be the solo artist. Passionate, elemental, rooted in vintage blues, R&B, and rock & roll, Talk Is Cheap was an almost definitive declaration about what he and Jagger brought up a table in the Rolling Stones and, as he and he worked together and continued to work in the band.

Keith Richards was born on the southern outskirts of London in Dartford on December 18, 1943. When he was barely a child, during the 1944 Nazi bombing campaign his family had to be temporarily evacuated from their homes. Richards initially met Mick Jagger in 1951, when in primary school, but they were divided three years later when they went to different schools. Richards had been interested in music already at this age, and he was a particularly large fan of Roy Rogers.

He sang in a choir in his early childhood that played for the queen herself, although he was forced to stop when his voice changed. He became fascinated with American rock & roll around that time and began playing guitar with his grandfather’s initial tutelage. The problems of behavior at school led to the expulsion of Richards in 1959 but the headmaster hoped he would find an artist niche and Richards was sent to the Sidcup Art School.

He met Dick Taylor, a future Pretty Things guitarist, who was then performing with Jagger in a blues band. Richards and Jagger discovered their new shared interest and struck up their friendship anew, and Richards joined their band soon afterward. In the next several years, the band became Rolling Stones, which debuted formally on stage in the summer of 1962.

The rest was history – a Blues and R&B band, the Stones diversified into original material written by Jagger and Richards. The team required some time to emerge become songwriters of professional caliber but by 1965 they were on their way.  superstars, boasting of one of Richards’ all-time golden guitar riffs played in the middle of the night in a tape recorder and didn’t remember writing when he heard the tape the next day.

With their aggressively sexual image threatening, they became targets for British police who tried to smother that new threat to public decency, and Richard had his first drug shell in 1967 as police raided his home and found amphetamines in Jagger’s girlfriend, the singer Marianne Faithfull’s coat pocket. Richards was convicted of having allowed his activities at his premises and sentenced to one year in prison, but public fury about the overt nature of the charge and the entirely circumstantial evidence caused a quick reversal of the verdict.

In the same year, Richards crocheted with the former girlfriend of Brian Jones, model/actress Anita Pallenberg; although they were not married formally, they were together for the following 12 years (more or less) and had two children (Marlon in 1968, and Angela in 1972).
