Linda Edna Cardellini (born 25 June 1975) is an American TV and movie actress. Most known as Lindsay Weir, a high school student in Freaks and Geeks, Velma Dinkley in Scooby-Doo live movies, and Samantha Taggart on ER.

Linda Edna Cardellini was born in Lorraine (Hernan) and a businessman in Redwood City, California, and Wayne David Cardellini. She is Italian (his father’s grandfather), Irish (his mom’s), German, English, and Scottish. Linda grew up with the youngest of four children in the San Francisco Bay area of California. She became interested in acting when she played a singing role in a Christmas playschool at the age of ten. She continued to do school and community theatre productions.

In Mountain View, California, Linda attended Saint Francis High School. She had to decide, after graduating, whether she went to New York to go to the theatre or Los Angeles to film and TV. She chose Los Angeles. Linda was cast on the Bone Chillers series in her first role (1996). Her success came when she was cast in Freaks and Geeks (1999). In the prestigious series which won an Emmy Award in the category of “Superb Casting for a Comedy Series,” she was the Academic decathlete, Lindsay Weir.

In the same year, the Cardellini performed as a jilted lover in Ang Lee’s acclaimed drama Brokeback Mountain (2005), which won major critical awards including a nomination to the Academy Award and Golden Globe’s Best Picture & Outstanding Ensemble at the Screen Actor’s Guild.

After working on this film with Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, they wrote to her a sign of their confidence in the talent and presence of Cardellini in the CBS mini-series Hallmark Hall of Fame (2008) Comanche Moon.

In 2008, in the film “The Lazarus Project,” Cardellini portrayed the leading role of ‘Julie Ingram’ alongside ‘Paul Walker.’ This thriller led by John Glenn tells the story of a former criminal, who finds himself in an unlawful endeavor and then leads an inexplicable new life in psychiatry.

In 2011 Cardellini joined Christopher Walken, Ray Stevenson, and Val Kilmer in Jonathan Hensleigh’s independent feature film “Kill the Irishman.” The film was based on the true story of the tough Irish girl Danny Greene who worked for Cleveland mobsters in the 1970s. In February 2012, Cardellini starring as “Kelli” in the movie “Return,” opposite Michael Shannon and John Slattery, Cardellini was nominated for “Best Female Lead” as Independent Spirit Award. “Return” was featured at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in the Director’s Quarter Section, and was officially featured at the International Film Festival in Deauville, London, and Palm Springs. “Return” followed ‘Kelli’ when she returned from the war and learned how to adapt to a slower, more normal life.

In 2013, Cardellini was virtually unrecognizable, but turned heads in the sixth season of the critically acclaimed AMC series, “Mad Men,” for her provocative portrait of the married mistress “Don Draper” She received her first Emmy nomination for her portrayal for “The Outstanding Guest Actress in A Drama Series.”

Linda is known for working in the film and television industry both for her portrait of ‘Nurse Samantha Taggart’ in the highly acclaimed, critically acclaimed NBC series, ‘ER.’ In Netflix’s new untitled family drama series, created by Glenn Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Todd Kessler, she will be considered as ‘Meg Rayburn.’ In the indie comedies Welcome to Me (2014), Cardellini also has a co-star role, in contrast to a star cast consisting of Kristen Wiig, Tim Robbins, Joan Cusack, James Marsden, and Wes Bentley. Shira Piven is the director of the film. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay produced “Welcome to Me” and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Cardellini was a guest star on the small screen playing “Dr. Megan Tillman” in CBS Person of Interest (2011). Jonathan Nolan and the stars Jim Caviezel, Taraji P. Henson, and Michael Emerson created the crime drama. Cardellini also speaks for a diverse animated group, including ‘Sanjay & Craig’ from Nickelodeon, playing ‘Megan,’ ‘Out There from IFC,’ voicing ‘Starla,’ and ‘Gravitational Falls,’ from Disney, where she’s ‘Wendy.’ The past voiceover work of Cardellini includes ‘Bliss,’ the daughter of his family on the ABC animated program The Goode Family (2009).

Linda holds a B.A. in Theater from Loyola Marymount University and a summer studies program at the London National Theater. She is living in Los Angeles. I had a very frightening pregnancy and a very hard delivery. My daughter and I are fortunate enough to be alive. I just returned from Switzerland, to which I never was. I went to Amsterdam and Switzerland.

After finishing ER (1994), I wanted to look again at what kind of actress I am and take some time for real-life stuff. I think that when I am raised a Catholic, Catholics tend to have a lot of guilt. It’s nearly a joke. I like to work on a set, whether it’s mainly men or women, but in a community of women, there is something about the energy changing. Sometimes, I think everybody feels lost in their high school years.

I don’t think most of us can communicate our deepest feelings very well in real life. I think I’ll spend some time learning how to be a mom first, and then I’m going to go back to work.

The one thing that has changed about being on ER (1994) is that I’m easier to recognize. Yes, I am very close to my family. I am very close. And since you are so close to your family, I think you also have difficulty in becoming your own person. People who don’t know if they first watch me play something, and then realize, ‘That’s her from whatever it is,’ this is a big compliment they could forget. I always thought I was a little timid, especially in comparison with my brother and sister, but I think I was always the child performing in the front room.

One thing I like to write about is that I can perhaps write a role to myself. If not, you are at the mercy of any roles people are willing to give you. There are not so many jobs as an actor where you don’t know what your character will do from one episode to the next.I have a kind of career where you follow me for some time if you are a fan, and you like something I did, so meeting those people is always a gracious experience.I like diversity; I want to distinguish a character from the next. If I can, I love living a long time with a character, but I like one character differently from the next.

One of my favorite things is not talking on the screen. It’s different in the theatre because language is emphasized a lot – it’s a different medium. But this is one of the film’s most marvelous things. The face of a person can say so much more than his voice can.

When I took the role on ER (1994), I remember, I thought, “I couldn’t play a working-class woman really. I played girls, I played funny, but a working-class woman I didn’t play. That sounds like I want to do something “There was a mistake. I’ve been very close to my parents. Running away from that is a double-edged sword: you must do something, but cutting the apron strings is difficult.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! (1969) was my favorite cartoon when I was a child. Even when I was older, while studying in college and had to settle for some time, I was watching “Scooby-Doo.”

You know, the difficult thing about audiences is not that they sometimes take it out personally to the actor. That is something you know when you are an actor, but when it actually happens, it is always difficult to deal with.
