Priscilla Renea

Priscilla Renea was born in 1988 in the little town of Vero Beach in the state of Florida. Both she and her dad were sailors at some point in their life. She claims she began singing at the age of two, but it wasn’t until she was much older that she felt comfortable enough to perform in front of an audience. She says she was two years old when she first started singing. She eventually learned how to use the site and began posting clips of herself singing in her room. The first video she made, a cover of “Cry Me a River,” was submitted to a competition. She didn’t end up winning, therefore she didn’t get to perform alongside Justin Timberlake at the Grammys.

She not only recorded herself performing her own music, but she also performed it live. She performed a musical medley of the entire dictionary. She amassed over 30,000 subscribers to her channel and was consequently granted a spot on MTV’s Say What? Karaoke. While still using her real name, Long got a music contract with Capitol Records in 2009. The number of people who watched her videos on YouTube began to climb. After the intended release date of October 20, 2009 was pushed back, she was given the opportunity to record additional tracks for her debut album.

On August 18, 2009, the album’s lead single, “Dollhouse,” was released to the public. This gave listeners a taste of what was to come. The highest position this single achieved on the Heatseekers singles list was at number 11, and it peaked at number 31 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart, indicating that it did not make a significant impact on the charts. However, it did not do well enough on the Billboard Hot 100 to crack the top 100. Jukebox, an audio recording, hit the shelves for commercial sale on December 1, 2009. The album failed to sell over 1,200 copies in its first week, hence it was not included in the top 200 on the Billboard album chart.

The record, however, rose all the way to number twenty-three on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and stayed there for a whole week. Even though the album wasn’t a commercial success, it was met with praise from critics. Among her many gifts is a “knack for blending language and poetry with fascinating sounds,” as praised by the magazine Billboard. The follow-up and only full-length album’s last single, “Lovesick,” was released on March 2, 2010, but it was not as successful commercially as the album’s predecessor.

As part of their 2017 album A Girl, a Bottle, a Boat, Train featured a track named “Lover guy,” on which Long made a guest appearance. Long released digital songs “Gentle Hands” and “Heavenly” on April 6, 2018, in anticipation of her next album Colored. The official music videos for both hits made their world premiere on Paper Magazine. When Long first left Florida, he settled in Atlanta, but he has now made Los Angeles his permanent home. She is diagnosed with lupus.

Several colonels were nearby. She remarked how “extremely kind” and “really nice” the manager and his wife were, both of whom she learned were also known by the name “Colonel.” A breakup between Elvis and Priscilla occurred in 1972, not long before his death. She may have moved on from him, but she will always love him, making her the guardian of his memory. “I want to see it through and offer him the things he’s always wanted to achieve and have in life,” she said. She combined his performances with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on several CDs, including If I Can Dream and The Wonder of You, helping him realize his dream of singing with an orchestra.

In doing so, he was able to indulge a lifelong interest. As entertaining as Priscilla found the film to be, she still had trouble keeping Elvis in her mind. She is so convinced that she believes that the King would have approved of the scheme if he had been consulted. In June, she praised it on Good Morning America, saying, “It was exquisite.” These are the things he would have said after seeing the movie.

In honor of the 45th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, his ex-wife Priscilla Renea opened up about the parts of the documentary “Elvis” that were the most upsetting to her. Elvis Presley told TODAY that watching Elvis: The Movie was tough because it reminded him of his tense relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, and of his desire to expand his career beyond music. Colonel Parker “probably should have stayed a publicist,” she said, because “he wanted to do movies, serious pictures.

Because I was there when he let Elvis down by not taking him where he wanted to go, everything hurts,” she sobbed. I was a witness to it myself, after all. She went on to say, “I lived through the time when Elvis was trying to explain why he didn’t want to make the movies with all of the women and the beaches and everything,” describing when he and the director had a heated argument. I was there when Elvis was trying to justify his decision to not pursue a career in film. Another way of saying this is that “watching the movie after going through it all with him brought back a lot of memories.”

Priscilla Renea, who has spent a great deal of time working in the field of popular music, is aware of the importance of adjusting one’s output to fit the needs of the industry. During recording sessions, she says, “You are only there to assist” a specific musician. You shouldn’t visit if you seek to draw attention to yourself. When recording demos to sell to other musicians, she tones down her voice intentionally so as not to turn them off. In Renea’s experience as a pop songwriter in L.A., “they don’t want to hear [vocal] runs,” she says. You have a monotone, dull voice; if you want to be heard, hit the note, show some personality, and leave.

A common problem in the music industry is the tendency to label even the most accomplished composers. Many people have the talent and desire to create their own works of art, but only a small percentage are allowed the time and resources to do so. After being known as Priscilla Renea for so long, the singer admits, “For the longest time I felt like I had to do a departure from Priscilla Renea since everybody knew me already.” For a long time, I felt compelled to break away from Priscilla Renea.

So, she set to work formulating a strategy for a return to prominence. “Excuse me while I try this out” The name I used then was Melrose. In 2018, I put out a country album because I said, “Why not give it a shot and see if it makes a difference?” Soon after the failure of her previous country album, she began working on a new one, promising herself that she would make no effort “to appease the good, old fellas.” But she says that “somewhere in that process, it wasn’t clicking.”

Renea had finished the second EP before she stumbled into the “Hrs and Hrs” beat while online. She says, “I hate cleaning; I hate cleaning; I hate cleaning; I hate cleaning.” She was in search of some tunes to play in the background as she worked and came upon “Hrs and Hrs.” Created by Beathustle’s Dylan Graham and Ralph Tiller, the slinky, ticking beat is based on the structure of classic R&B ballads. Renea found it so enjoyable that she started freestyling, which made washing the dishes less of a chore.

She collaborated with Kuk Harrell, one of the most sought-after voice producers (Beyoncé, Usher, Justin Bieber), to perfect the song’s final form. Years ago, they met during Rihanna’s participation in a recording session, and they’ve kept in touch ever since. They both agree that “nobody wants to sing” at the moment.

The problem, in Harrell’s view, is that “everyone wants to generate a cool, conversational item, but everybody is unwilling to use all the resources they received.” Then he adds, “Linear melodies can only produce so much feeling.” Together, their vocal delivery of “Hrs and Hrs” was like a series of barrel rolls and nosedives. Renea, in Harrell’s words, “has nothing but incredible control over her voice at all times,” which made for a much easier time of it.

Renea’s rebranding has been so successful that it has began to alienate some of her former collaborators. She once worked with Monica, a popular singer noted for her songs “Before You Walk Out of My Life” and “So Gone.” The R&B veteran was excited to work with what she perceived to be a young talent and flew Muni Long down to Atlanta to record the song “Sneaky Link.” It wasn’t until Monica and Long took a break from recording and went to Waffle House that Monica realized Long was actually Renea and that she had previously recorded her songs.
