Rachel Brosnahan is an American actress who was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1990.She is also noted for her past appearances as Genevieve Duchannes in the film Beautiful Creatures (2013), Rachel Posner in the Netflix original series House of Cards (2013), and Abby Isaacs in the TV series Manhattan (2014).

After graduating from college, she began winning recurring roles in shows including The Blacklist (2013), the short-lived Black Box (2014), and “House of Cards” (2013-15), which propelled her to fame and earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series in 2015. She was hired for two episodes and five lines at first, but she drew Beau Willimon’s attention and was quickly developed into a prominent character. She also starred as Abby Isaacs on the TV drama series “Manhattan” for two seasons.
She had her theatrical debut in 2009 at the Steppenwolf Theater in “Up,” followed by her Broadway debut in 2013 with the Roundabout Theater Company in “The Big Knife.” She performed Desdemona opposite David Oyelowo and Daniel Craig in “Othello” at New York Theater Workshop in 2016.
She starred as the title character in the Amazon Video series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017), which debuted in 2017. She won a Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Television Series—Musical or Comedy for her performance.
