Sonja Henie (born April 8, 1912, Kristiania [now Oslo], Norway—died on October 12, 1969, in a aeroplane en route to Oslo), Norwegian born into the world American best on the planet professional skater and Olympic gold medalist who proceeded to make progress as an expert ice-skater and as a movie entertainer.
