Born Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski on March 19, 1980, Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski, better known by his stage name Theo Von, is a stand-up comedian, podcaster, television personality, YouTuber, and actor based in the United States. He is now the presenter of the podcast, This Past Weekend, and he used to be the co-host of The King and the Sting. Gina Capitani and Roland Theodor Achilles von Kurnatowski (1910–1996), originally from Bluefields, Nicaragua, were the parents of Von. Von was born in Bluefields.

When Von was born, his father was 69 years old; however, for the sake of his comic material, Von rounds the age up to 70 years. Von was just 16 years old when he passed away due to his disease. Covington, Louisiana, served as the setting for Von’s formative years, where he was raised with his elder brother and two younger sisters. At the age of 14, Von obtained his legal independence.
He attended high school in Mandeville, Louisiana, and received his diploma from that institution.

He spent some time studying at Louisiana State University, as well as at Loyola University New Orleans, the University of Arizona, the College of Charleston, and Santa Monica College. He also attended Santa Monica College. Von participated at the University of New Orleans for his undergraduate education and obtained his degree in 2011. Von’s professional career in the entertainment industry started when, at nineteen, he was cast as a performer in MTV’s Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour in the year 2000. While he was still a student at Louisiana State University, he was approached by representatives from the show.

After completing his season on Road Rules, Von participated in four seasons of The Challenge, a reality game program aired on MTV and was originally known as Real World/Road Rules Challenge. MTV’s The Real World and Road Rules served as inspiration for the creation of the program. In the seasons Battle of the Seasons (2002), The Gauntlet (2003–2004), Battle of the Sexes II (2004–2005), and Fresh Meat (2006), he appeared as a cast member. In 2002, Von finished in second place, winning the next two seasons.

In 2006, Von participated in the fourth season of “Last Comic Standing,” in which he ultimately emerged victorious in the online competition. In the middle of 2008, he participated in the sketch program and competition known as Reality Bites Back on Comedy Central. He triumphed against other comediennes and comedians, including Amy Schumer, Bert Kreischer, and Tiffany Haddish, to take home the victory.

The year 2011 saw Von debut as the new presenter of the popular online TV recap program Primetime in No Time, shown on Yahoo. Between 2013 and 2014, he served as the host of the hidden camera game Deal With It, shown on TBS and executive produced by Howie Mandel. During this time, Von appeared in several television series, such as “Inside Amy Schumer” and “Why? with Hannibal Buress.”

He said he was not more interested in acting early on, despite having offered to do pilots and sitcoms. He was not thrilled about specific projects because they frequently interfered with his touring and podcasting schedules. This is even though he had the opportunity to do such things. In early 2018, Von had his written comedy program Man Up premiere on Comedy Central. The show consisted of three episodes.

In August 2019, Von announced that he had been cast in the high-budget film The Tomorrow War, known as Ghost Draft at the time. Von also said the film’s star, Chris Pratt, had recruited him for the project. A few weeks later, Von announced his withdrawal from the movie on his podcast, citing the time commitment required for the role.

Von moved to Louisiana in his youth, where he started his career as a stand-up comedian. After spending some time on MTV, he decided to go to Los Angeles and pursue stand-up comedy as a career when he was 23. As a performer in Hollywood, he struggled for a while because talent brokers did not want to take a risk on him since they considered him to be a reality TV star. It took him several years to shed this reputation and become recognized as a comedic performer.

A few years later, in 2006, Von scored one of his first significant comic triumphs when he won the title of Fan Favourite in the online competition associated with the fourth season of Last Comic Standing. This was one of Von’s first significant comedic accomplishments. Around this time, Von started taking his show on the road around the country. In addition, he was a performer with the USO on five different worldwide tours, one of which brought him to Guantanamo Bay.

In 2009, Von brought “crank texting,” the practice of sending a text message to a random phone number to instigate a discussion, into the mainstream. That same year, he also started his “crank texting” blog, which CollegeHumor eventually adopted as a column. Von was the featured comic on an episode of Comedy Central’s The Half Hour, now known as Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents, which aired on June 1, 2012, and starred Von.

In addition, he marketed his stand-up comedy on various television programs, including but not limited to The Arsenio Hall Show, Hello Ross, Chelsea Lately, Watch What Happens Live, @midnight, and This Is Not Happening. In 2016, Von’s first stand-up comedy special, “No Offence,” was made available on Netflix. The concert was recorded in the Civic Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana, which is located in the state of Louisiana. In the summer of 2019, Von started on a nationwide tour that would last for three months and be named The Dark Arts Tour.

This Past Weekend is the only podcast Von hosts as of 2023. Before that, he hosted King and The Sting (and Wing) podcasts. He has appeared as a recurrent guest on the podcasts of many comedic figures, including Joe Rogan’s The Joe Rogan Experience, Joey Diaz’s The Church of What’s Happening Now, Bobby Lee’s TigerBelly, and The Fighter and the Kid. The Comedy Sideshow was Von’s first-ever podcast, which he launched in April 2011. Von would interview comedians and other celebrities at the Improv Comedy Club in Hollywood, where the show was taped.

The television program consisted of twenty-three episodes, the most recent of which was shown in November of the same year. In 2015, Von and the filmmaker and journalist Matthew Cole Weiss launched a weekly podcast named Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss. The two buddies, who couldn’t be more different from one another, competed to see who could come up with the best “alleged” stories about the celebrities, comedy, trauma, romance, success, and failure that occurred during their time spent living in Hollywood.

The podcast published 123 episodes throughout its three years. In December 2016, Von launched a new podcast, This Past Weekend. This is a longer-form video podcast in which Von tells stories, responds to voicemails from fans, and conducts in-depth interviews with special guests. In May 2019, he published the 200th episode of his show. With another podcaster named Brendan Schaub, Von launched a new podcast in December 2018 under King and The Sting.

When the podcast was first made available, it immediately shot to the top of the iTunes Podcast rankings in the United States. It also quickly rose to the top of the charts in other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, and Australia. King and The Sting were rebranded as King and The Sting and Wing when Schaub and Von expanded the show to include a third host in January 2022. Chris D’Elia joined Schaub and Von on the show. During this period, Von paused the podcast more often and invited others to fill in for him while he was gone.

On November 4, 2022, King and The Sting and Wing was officially renamed The Golden Hour, and Workaholics actor Erik Griffin took the role of Von. Von’s departure was because Erik Griffin was cast in The Golden Hour. A video uploaded by Von in late 2022 and is currently gaining momentum as a trendy sound was first shared on TikTok, where he has 4.5 million followers and his videos garner millions of views. In his article, Von acknowledged that he was speaking nonsense and thanked his followers for sticking with him even though he was mistaken in what he was saying.

The music was uploaded on the internet through Von’s official page, and it now has more than 16 thousand videos associated with it. Since he shot to prominence, Von has established quite a reputation. He hosts his podcast, This Past Weekend with Theo Von, and it has interviews with celebrities such as Neil deGrasse Tyson, David Spade, Tony Hawk, and many more. His comedy specials can be seen on Netflix. He will stop in Baton Rouge for four concerts at the Raising Cane’s River Centre this weekend. He is now on his Return of the Rat tour, where he is sharing his life tales with enormous audiences, and this weekend, he will be here in Baton Rouge.

Poirier’s most recent bout, which took place against Michael Chandler and was nothing short of vicious and nasty, occurred. Poirier showed perseverance and tenacity by coming out on top despite suffering an injury throughout the fight. However, the struggle ended up being too much for him, and he got a staph infection as a result. Since then, he has fully recovered and is prepared to return to the octagon. In a recent comment, he said McGregor could win a bout against Chandler.

It is unknown when fans will get the opportunity to see ‘Diamond’ return to action, but one thing is sure: he will continue to amuse both inside and outside the octagon. Poirier always finds a way to keep fans involved and amused, whether by criticizing his opponents on social media or making wild predictions about the future. His devoted followers can’t wait for him to step back into the octagon, sure that he will once again put on a show and leave his indelible stamp on the sport. On August 18, stand-up comedian and podcast host Theo Von will take the Colosseum Stage as part of his ‘Return of the Rat tour for 2023.

This Past Weekend and King and the Sting are two of Theo Von’s very well-liked podcasts, each attracting millions of listeners and viewers every month, and both feature Theo Von every week. Bryan has become an unstoppable force in the country music business, and while George Strait will always be the king of the genre, the former sailor seems to be hell-bent on establishing himself as the prince.
