Valentino Rossi, the ultimate motorcycle idol, is one of the most talented and successful riders ever. He won his world’s first racing title at the age of eighteen with a passion for racing at a very young age. Since then, he has never missed a race and records, one by one. He is definitely on the way to becoming a motorcycle legend or rather he is already one! This year’s Italian feeling was also known for being a bit superstitious, particularly before competing in any race. As they are called, his pre-ride rituals include bending down and bending his head to the right side of his bike.
For this purpose, he once said, “It’s just a time to focus and ‘talk’ to my motorcycle, like moving from place to place.” He is now one of the most famous celebrities and one of the biggest sportsmen. His accomplishments in the sport make him the best runner ever. This sought-after rider is however quite discreet about his life and likes to stay away from the radar. Read more about his life, his career, and his incredible achievements in the following article.
Valentino is the son of the once motorcycle rider Graziano Rossi. As a child, instead of a bike, he was given a kart because his mother was concerned about her son’s safety. When he was five, the 60cc engine of his kart was replaced by a 100cc engine and won the local kart championship in 1990.
By the end of 1991, he was a mini riding expert and had won numerous awards. He took part in the Parma national kart championships and finished fifth in the running. In 1993, his father supplied his son with Cagiva Mito 125cc, helping his former racing friend, Claudio Lusardi who runs the Cagiva Sport,s Production team. He crashed his first bike and was allowed to participate in the Italian Championship in sports production, where he played reasonably at first, later winning the title in 1994.
He was trained to ride 125cc motorcycles after the championship, and in 1995 won the 125cc Italian Championship. He also competed at the 125cc European Championship where he took third place. He took his next big and ambitious move, i.e. in 1996 he participated in the Malaysian Grand Prix World Championship, where he finished 9th.
In 1998, he raced 250cc and came second in Loris Capirossi’s World Championship. In 1999 he won the 250cc World Championship in Aprilia, where he won his first title. He signed up with Honda in the 500cc class in 2000 and was supervised by a former 500cc World Champion, Michael Doohan. That year he was second to Kenny Roberts, Jr.
In 2001, the 500 cc World Championship held its final race, while Rossi, second the year before, finished in the first place and took the championship. In 2004, he joined Yamaha and competed in the Grand Prix opening season in South Africa. He won the championship and became the first rider ever to win first-class championships sequentially, representing two different producers.
He won nine out of the 16 races that season, securing himself the world championship title. The year 2005 was extremely good as he won a total of eleven races and the World Championship the same year. However, in 2006, he finished second in five points over Nicky Hayden from Honda. He came second only for the second time in his first-class racing career.
The year 2007 was a bit rough for him, as due to several technical problems he could only win four races. He also suffered injuries in one of the races and finished third at the World Championship that year, his smallest achievement since his first win. In 2008, he regained his reputation by winning nine races in the MotoGP title. The year after was also very fruitful, but in 2010, when he was in Mugello, he suffered another injury, breaking his leg. He finished third and missed four races that season.
In 2011, he left Yamaha to sign a two-year contract with Ducati for a long time. In the middle of 2012, however, he announced that at the end of the season he would return to Yamaha. He won his 7th World Championship and fifth consecutive MotoGP Championship in 2005, during the Grand Prix motor racing season. That year, he won the first-class title five times among the only five drivers in motorcycle history.
In 2013, he won 106 races, 80 of which are 500cc/MotoGP championships. In 2007 he was suspected of tax evasion, for which he paid the Italian tax authorities EUR 35 million in order to reach a settlement. He is a fan of the International Football Club, who congratulated him on his 9th World Championship victory, in October 2009, on his website.

After his father, Graziano Rossi, in 1996 Valentino started racing for Aprilia in the 125cc category in Grand Prix and won his first WC the following year. He moved from there to Aprilia in the 250cc category and won the 250cc World Championship in 1999. During Ducati, he suffered two winless seasons. Since the end of the 2005 Moto GP season, 79 GP wins and 7 World Championships in only nine years have been won. In honor of his father Graziano, who ran with the same number, he always runs with the number 46.
Four consecutive World Motorcycling Champions in GP class (2001-2004), 125 class World Champions in 1997, 250 class world champions in 1999, considered by many to be the biggest motorcyclist of all time.

One of just three riders who won back-to-back titles on different machinery was in 2003 with the RC211V Repsol Honda, then in 2004 with the Yamaha Gauloises YZR M1, the other being Eddie Lawson, who won the Yamaha title in 1988 and the Honda again in 1989.
The most important thing is a good relationship with the motorcycle…you must understand what it wants. As a woman, I believe in a motorcycle, and I know that sounds stupid, but it’s true.
I think that we are now at the limit and that 17 races are really too much. With all the tests we do right now, it means that we’re always on the bike and it’s quite hard. I’ve been lucky. My dad raced motorcycles. He very early gave me the passion. When I was three or four years old, I had my first bike. It will be difficult to win the championship in the first year. We need time to compete and win competitions. When I don’t know what I will do next week, how do Ferrari know what I am doing next year?
I’m Valentino Rossi. I’m Valentino Rossi. And I want to be a man, not an icon. I probably would have stolen cars – it’d give me the same rush of adrenaline as racing. I can ride the bike and think clearly about strategy and pneumatics. I have positive thoughts, too. I am very critical in a constructive manner. My dad raced motorcycles. He very early gave me the passion. When I was three or four years old, I had my first bike.I always had a lot of enjoyment at pre-school. Perhaps I wouldn’t have had that passion to be a rider if Graziano did another job or another sport.
