His parents, Dr. and Mrs. Ekweani, gave him the name Chukwuka Ekweani, although he is better known by his stage name, Ckay. He was born in the state of Kaduna in Nigeria. When he was seven years old, his father, who was working at the time as a choir leader at the local church, gave him an introduction to the art of music. This was his first experience with music. His father was serving at the time. When CKay’s father would play the piano in the house, he would invariably ask his son to join in on the singing of traditional hymns with the family. Even though he was still a young child at the time, he was already studying musical theory and was familiar with the distinctive tones of classical performers such as Beethoven and Franz Schubert. He began writing songs and composing music when he was only 13 years old.

Ckay didn’t start taking music seriously until after he had finished secondary school and started hanging out with other people in his city who were also passionate about music. The band known as Cre8tive Music was established by him, along with two of his other close friends. They had achieved a good deal of success in the music scene of Kaduna at the time. They put on a concert and were able to sell all of the tickets to the event. When he reflected on that period of time, he realised how important the outcomes that may result from their very little effort could be. Because he yearned for more, he settled on moving to Lagos as his next course of action. After saving money over the course of the subsequent nine months, he decided to take the plunge and move out on his own.

Ckay relocated to Lagos in 2014 and began working at Chocolate City Music as a production intern at the beginning of 2015. Chocolate City Music is located in Nigeria. While he was there, he worked at the studio until the latter part of the same year, when he was signed by Loopy Music. Loopy Music would subsequently combine with Chocolate City Music, and MI would become the CEO of Chocolate City. While he was there, he worked at the studio. His debut single as a producer was titled “Third Mainland Bridge,” and it was included on the album TICBN vol. 1. Moti Cakes and MI were the artists that contributed to the music.

Ckay was one of the featured artists on Illegal Music 3’s track “The box,” which also featured Pryse. The track was released in 2013. His skill received the recognition of the A&Rs when he worked on a number of productions and created songs for a range of singers signed to the label as well as those signed to other labels. As a result, the significance of Ckay as an artist began to become more obvious. On July 16th, 1995, Ckay was born in the city of Kaduna, which is situated in the northern area of Nigeria. He was born into the Ekweani family, which is of Igbo descent, since his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ekweani, are of that background. Ckay is originally from the state of Anambra, which is situated in the southeast region of the country. The meaning of his Igbo name, Chukwuka, which translates to “God is Great” in English, was bestowed upon him at birth.

Even though their home was in the city of Kaduna, the Ekweani people were devoted Christians. This was despite the fact that their home was in Kaduna. The whole family made it a priority to regularly participate in the worship services held at their local church, where a good number of the family members were also active volunteers. The illustrious position of Choir Conductor was once held by Ckay’s father, who was also a member of the choir in its earlier years. Because of Ckay’s encounters with Mr. Ekweani, Ckay acquired an interest in music and started experimenting with the different instruments that were available in the church. As a consequence of these interactions, Ckay’s passion in music continues to this day. Ckay learned to play a wide range of instruments as he got older, and he finally became an instrumentalist at the local church as a result of this.

His interest in the area of music composition was kindled when a friend introduced him to the production software known as Fruity Loops. This was the moment when he became interested in the industry. After some time, Ckay was able to get his hands on the software and began teaching himself how to build beats independently. In addition to that, he came to the conclusion that he should become a member of a three-man boys band so that he could put the final touches on his developing career.

During this particular period, the man in question was given the moniker “Ckay.” Ckay spent some time making music in the underground, using that period of time to polish his sound in preparation for beginning a professional career in the music industry. As a direct result of making this decision, he relocated to the city of Lagos, which is widely recognised as the entertainment centre of West Africa. 2014 was the year that all of this transpired.

Soon after that, in 2014, he was signed as a recording artist to Loopy Music, which was run by MI Abaga at the time and was the label he was signed to. Because of this, he shot to prominence almost overnight. As a direct consequence of the creative collaboration that exists between Chocolate City Music Group and Loopy Music, Ckay was able to accomplish some work for Chocolate City Music Group in addition to his work for Loopy Music.

As a consequence of this, he eventually became a part of the Chocolate Family as a consequence of the merger that took place in 2016 between Loopy Music and Chocolate City. The extended play (EP) titled “Who the Fuck is Ckay,” which was published by Ckay on September 11, 2017, was the first move he took toward establishing a reputation for himself in the field of music. The extended play was very successful in the music industry and helped pave the way for the chart-topping single “Container” that the artist released in March of 2018. The song, which was produced by Tempoe, received a lot of exposure throughout digital media, which helped Ckay solidify his position in the industry and won him extra fans.

On the 30th of August 2019, he made the decision to give up on his second project, which was called Ckay The First. The extended play was released under the Chocolate City moniker. The song “Love Nwantiti,” which was included in the project, is credited with helping Ckay achieve international notoriety. His debut on the US Billboard Hot 100 came as a result of the song, which was later named one of the most important records of the years 2020 and 2021. This significant achievement would not have been achieved without the prior remix of the song that included Joeboy and Kami Eugene and was uploaded to TikTok, where it quickly gained a large following.

Love Nwantiti climbed to the top of the charts in a number of countries throughout the globe, including Africa, Europe, and Australia. ElGrande Toto was included as the guest musician on the North African version of the song, whilst Franglish was featured on the French remix of the song. As Ckay joined Frizz’s team, a German version of the song was also created before it was released.

He made an appearance on Davido’s hit song “La La” in the year 2020. The track is one of the songs on Davido’s album “A Better Time,” which was released in the same year. In addition to that, he was a featured artist on the song “Baggie Baggie” by Arya Starr. You can listen to the track here. On October 8, 2021, Ckay became the first African artist in the history of Spotify to surpass the milestone of 21 million monthly listeners on his profile. This achievement made him the first African artist to ever accomplish so.

As a result of this achievement, Ckay became the first African artist in the history of Spotify to reach the milestone of 20 million listeners. Ckay uprooted his life and went to Lagos, Nigeria, in 2014 so that he could focus on his profession as a musician. He did this so that he could be closer to his fans. After signing up with the label as a production intern, he was given the opportunity to observe and gain knowledge from prominent artist MI Abaga while working as an intern in the production department at Loopy Music.

In the early 2000s, the pop music musician Chukwuka Ekweani, better known by his stage name CKay, shot to notoriety and became very successful. He is most known for fusing pop and psychedelic influences with afrobeat music, a move that has had a considerable influence on the development of the genre. On TikTok alone, he has more than 2.3 million people who watch his work and follow him. That year, 2015, when he secured a deal with the record company Chocolate City Music, was the year that marked the beginning of the genuine beginning of his musical career.

He released his first album that same year. In 2019, he released a reinvented version of the song “Love Nwantiti,” which went on to become an immense success in Nigeria, his native country. His birthplace was in Nigeria, which is a nation in Africa. They were all members of the same congregation, and his father served as the choir director at the local church.
