Located in St. Paul, Minnesota, the Minnesota Wild is an NHL (National Hockey League) team that competes in the Pacific Division (NHL). The Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets were both newcomers to the NHL when they were both admitted as expansion teams in 2000. It took two seasons for Minnesota, headed by right-wing Marian Gaborik, to finish last in their division, but the Wild made the playoffs in their third season.
