The American Collegiate, and Professional Gridiron Football Quarterback, Peyton Manning (born March 24, 1976, New Orleans, Louisiana), is considered one of the greatest players ever in its National Football League (NFL) story. The quarterback of Indianapolis Colts (2007) and Denver Broncos was won by Super Bowls (2016).

From a very young age, Manning was immersed in football. His father, Archie Manning, was the star of the New Orleans Saints quarterback. (Younger Brother Eli was also an NFL quarterback, leading the New York Giants to the victory in the XLII and XLVI Superbowl.) Peyton Manning was considered a high school player and in his senior season received a national Player of the Year award. He attended Tennessee University, where he was four years old at the start of the quarter.

Manning was drawn up by the Colts for the first time in 1998. After some difficulty in his rookie season, he helped the Colts to win the first division of the franchise title since 1987 in 1999. In 2000, Manning threw 4,413 yards and 33 touchdowns to the NFL’s leading passengers. He shared the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award with Steve McNair of the Tennessee Titans three years later.  His greatness on the field and friendly personality made him an extremely popular salesman, a fact that greatly enhanced his reputation over the years. Although not as omnipresent as contemporary athletes such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, Manning reached a level of reputation among few soccer players whose accessibility to fans was historically limited by the briefness and play while they wore obscure helmets, among other factors.

Manning led the Colts to victories in the first 13 games of the 2005 season. Although one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, the team lost to Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional playoffs. Some questioned the ability of Manning to win a championship but silenced his critics in the 2006 season. He threw 4,397 yards – the seventh time he had gone over more than 4,000 yards in his career and broke the record of Dan Marin – to lead the Colts to 12 regular-season wins. Manning helped the Colts to defy the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI following the victories in a playoff over the City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and the New England Patriots. Manning was named MVP for his performance of 25 completed passes for 247 yards. In 2008, he received the League MVP award for the third time and, on the way to a record fourth MVP award in 2009, he led the Colts to a best 14-0 start in the season.

Manning won Pro Bowl again in 2010 after leading the Colts to a 10th consecutive playoff berth. He had surgery on the neck in the aftermath of the hours of the season (the third procedure on his neck in a 19-month period), and a difficult recovery forced him to miss the whole of 2011. Without Manning, the Colts fought for a record of 2-14. In March 2012, the team released Manning to prevent a $28 million bonus from paid the wounded quarterback and to start rebuilding around a core group of young players and signed a five-year contract with the Denver Broncos.

Manning quickly returned to his former form in Denver. At 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns, he led the NFL in the completion percentage (68.6). Manning led Denver to a 13-3 record for the conference, but he was again disappointed with the post-season mood as the Broncos were upset in their opening playoff. In 2013 Manning had one of the best NFL quarterback seasons: with five,477 yards and 55 touchdown passes he established new league records with ten interceptions. In the course of the season, the Broncos achieved an unprecedented 606 points and again finished with 13 wins as the highest seed in the AFC. Manning also won an MVP award in the fifth league. He has led the Broncos to two playoff wins (including a victory over his long-standing rival Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game). Manning threw his 509th touchdown pass in October 2014, breaking the record held by Brett Favre. (Brady and Drew Brees broke Manning’s record later.)

Manning had a hard time in the next regular season, but Favre broke in November 2015 a record of 71,838 career yards. (The record of Manning was broken by Brees in 2018.) An uninjured, ineffective Manning was replaced as the team’s first quarterback shortly thereafter, but at the end of the season he had resumed that role and he then led the Broncos to a title of the division and a second trip to the Super Bowl. In March 2016, he retired from professional football, with a total career of 71,940 yards and 539 touchdowns. In 2021, Manning was brought to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Denver Broncos, a Denver-based professional gridiron football team playing in the NFL (NFL).

The Broncos were established as one of the American Football League’s original members in 1960. (AFL). During the 10 years of the League, the Broncos never posted a winning record, and six times they ended in their division. The team had a few outstanding players at this time, including Lionel Taylor, a wide receiver and five times leading the AFL in receptions, and Floyd Little. The Broncos continued to reside in the division cellar after the 1970 NFL-AFL merger before their first winning season in 1973.

The Broncos ended up winning a playoff position in 1977. The Broncos went 12–2 and recorded the highest in their conference, led by the linebackers Randy Gradishar and Tom Jackson as well as the rest of the so-called “Orange Crush” defense, whose name originated in the bright orange homemade jerseys of the group at the time. They won their first two games in the postseason to advance to the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl. Denver returned to play-offs the next two seasons, but on both occasions lost their first game. The team’s sudden rise to the top of the AFC led to higher expectations and, following the Broncos’ 8-8 finish in 1980 following their three-game post-season streak, head trainer Red Miller was shot off and substituted by Dan Reeves. In 1983 Reeves overseeing the trading of the uncomforted Baltimore Colts designer John Elway, who became the most iconic player in the franchise history as the Broncos’ quarterback for 16 seasons.

The Broncos were one of the successful NFL teams of the 1980s, with Elway leading the offense and Pro Bowl linebacker Karl Mecklenburg anchoring the defence. Denver advanced to 3 Super Bowls in the decade and two of the most memorable contests of the period were their consecutive AFC Championship Games against the Cleveland Browns in 1987 and 1988. The previous match featured Elway leading the Broncos 98 yards in the fourth quarter in an overtime match and winning (that became known as ” The Drive”), the latter being decided when Brown, back on the 3-yard line of Denver, lost the ball for just over a minute as he tried to score a tying touchdown (“The Fumble”).

However, Broncos failed to capitalize on the thrilling championship victories and were soundly beaten in the subsequent Super Bowl of every season by the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. The Broncos returned to the Super Bowl in 1990, although their score was 55-10, the worst loss in the Super Bowl history, defeated by the San Francisco 49ers. The failure of Reeves to win a Super Bowl — combined with his years of feuding with Elway — led to his withdrawal after the 1992 season.

The former offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan of Denver was hired as head coach of the team in 1995. Talented roster including Terrell Davis, the large-scale Rod Smith recipient, and Shannon Sharpe, the Broncos were one of the leading offenses in the NFL with the Shanahan team during the first seasons, and they again represented the AFC in the Super Bowl in 1998. This time the balanced Broncos team upsets the Green Bay Packers in order to capture the first title of the franchise. Next season Denver won 14 team record games, followed by a second victory in Super Bowl (over the Atlanta Falcons). Elway then retired, and the following season Denver finished last in her division.
