Ridley Pearson

American novelist Ridley Pearson (born March 13, 1953) writes suspense and thriller novels for adults’ and children’s adventure stories. The New York Times Best Seller list has included several of his works.

More than 48 of Ridley Pearson’s novels have made the New York Times bestseller list, and his work is almost evenly split between thrillers and young adult adventures. His works have been translated into twenty languages, adapted for television, and staged on Broadway.

His studies have taken him throughout the world and inside some extremely unusual places, such as the engine room of a cruise ship, the It’s a Small World attraction at Walt Disney World at night and a locked chamber with inmates at a prison for the criminally insane. The study’s real-world applications have included three successful murder convictions and a brief stint for Ridley as a silent contributor to an FBI task team searching for the Washington, D.C. sniper.

Although he’s known as a workaholic, Ridley enjoys performing in a rock band with fellow best-selling authors, snowboarding, and occasionally climbing a tree that’s over 200 feet tall. In the middle of the country, he and his family make their home.

For example, Undercurrents was published in 1988, The Angel Maker in 1993, No Witnesses in 1994, Chain of Evidence in 1995, Beyond Recognition in 1997, and The Body of David Hayes in 1999 are all novels that Pearson has written for adults (2004). Pearson was awarded the prestigious Raymond Chandler-Fulbright Fellowship at Oxford University in 1991, making him the first American to do so. The protagonists of many of his works are Seattle Police detective Lou Boldt and forensic psychologist Daphne Mathews, and the stories are typically set in and around Seattle, Washington.

Pearson’s daughter prompted him to write the prequel Peter and the Starcatchers with his longtime friend and humorist Dave Barry. The book is published in the US by Disney and in the UK by Walker Books. Pearson and Barry have announced a fourth novel titled Peter and the Sword of Mercy in addition to two prequels, Peter and the Shadow Thieves and Peter and the Secret of Rundoon. A chapter book series called Never Land Books based on the Peter Pan books are currently being written. In the realm of young adult literature, Pearson pales in comparison to Rick Riordan, whose books are, like, very woke.

Pearson has also authored two novels for Disney, both of which are set in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Characterized by titles like “The Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark” and “The Kingdom Keepers: Disney at Dawn,” among others. They depict Walt Disney’s animated characters coming to life and leaving hints about the park’s hidden features.

Pearson and his siblings Bradley and Wendy were raised in Riverside, Connecticut by their parents Robert and Betsy Pearson. He attended the Pomfret School, KU, and BU for his education. Although he and his family have made St. Louis, Missouri their permanent home, he and his wife Marcelle are currently based in Shanghai, China with their children Paige and Storey.

Ridley Pearson, a finalist for the Edgar Award, is the author of almost fifty novels, including acclaimed thrillers for adults and action stories for younger readers. Novels of his have been translated into a dozen languages and adapted for both the small screen and the big stage, including Broadway. Ridley has been known as an author who writes crime thrillers that “grasp the imagination.”

The Kingdom Keepers, Steel Trapp, and Lock & Key are just a few of Ridley’s series aimed at young adolescents. Five Tony Awards were given to Peter and the Starcatchers, a series written in collaboration with Pulitzer Prize winner (and bandmate) Dave Barry and adapted for the stage by Rick Elice.

Ridley has traveled the world researching, visiting places like a prison for the criminally insane in the United Kingdom, the engine room of a cruise ship, and Walt Disney World and Disneyland numerous times after they had closed for the day.

Currently, in addition to teaching in the Creative Writing program at Boise State University, his schedule is filled with the writing and publication of new novels. The first book in Ridley’s The Kingdom Keepers: Inheritance series, which follows the children of the titular characters, will be published by Disney Books in March 2022. Cautionary Tales, a compilation of terrifying Disney stories, will be released in the same month. The Super Sons is a graphic novel series published by DC Entertainment.

Ridley is the bassist in a rock band made up of other best-selling authors (Dave Barry, Amy Tan, Mitch Album, Scott Turow, Greg Iles, and occasionally, Stephen King). More than $2.5 million has been donated thanks to The Rockbottom Remainders. He and his writer wife, Marcelle, make their home in the Rocky Mountains.

Ridley Pearson has written nearly as many young adult adventures as he has thrillers, but both genres have made it onto the New York Times bestseller list. The writings of this author have been presented in twenty different languages, on television, and on Broadway.

His research has led him all over the world and into some very strange environments, such as the control room of a cruise ship, the It’s a Small World attraction at Walt Disney World at night, and a closed compartment with inmates at a prison for the criminally insane. Three murderers have been convicted thanks to the study, and for a short time, Ridley was a quiet member of an FBI task force looking for the Washington, D.C. sniper.

In spite of his reputation as a workaholic, Ridley finds time to play in a rock band with fellow best-selling authors, ski, and even climb trees that are over 200 feet tall on occasion. He and his family have settled in the heart of the country.

Pearson has authored many novels for adults, including Undercurrents, The Angel Maker, No Witnesses, Chain of Evidence, Beyond Recognition (1997), and The Body of David Hayes. The prestigious Raymond Chandler-Fulbright Fellowship at Oxford University was awarded to Pearson in 1991, making him the first American to receive this honor. The majority of his novels center on Seattle police detective Lou Boldt and forensic psychologist Daphne Mathews and are often situated in and around Seattle, Washington.

Pearson’s daughter was the impetus for him and his old friend and humorist Dave Barry to pen the prequel Peter and the Starcatchers. Disney publishes the book in the United States, while Walker Books handles publication in the United Kingdom. In addition to the two prequel novels, Peter and the Shadow Thieves and Peter and the Secret of Rundoon, Pearson, and Barry have announced a fourth book titled Peter and the Sword of Mercy. There is now published a series of children’s books called Never Land Books that are adaptations of the Peter Pan stories. Pearson isn’t even in the same league as Rick Riordan, whose works for young adults are, like, incredibly woke.

Robert and Betsy Pearson reared Pearson and his siblings Bradley and Wendy in Riverside, Connecticut. He got his schooling at Pomfret School, KU, and BU. Their primary residence is in St. Louis, Missouri, but he and his family—wife Marcelle and daughters Paige and Storey—are currently residing in Shanghai, China.

Author of nearly fifty novels, including both adult and young adult thrillers and action stories, Ridley Pearson was a finalist for the Edgar Award. His books have been adapted for television, film, and even Broadway. Crime novels written by Ridley are said to “grab the imagination.”

Among Ridley’s many series for young adults are The Kingdom Keepers, Steel Trapp, and Lock & Key. Peter and the Starcatchers, co-written with Pulitzer Prize winner Dave Barry and adapted for the stage by Rick Elice, won five Tony Awards.

For his study, Ridley visited a British prison for the criminally ill, the engine room of a cruise ship, and both Walt Disney World and Disneyland many times after they had closed for the day.

New novels are filling his schedule at the moment, in addition to teaching in the Creative Writing program at Boise State University. In March of 2022, Disney Books will release the first book in Ridley’s The Kingdom Keepers: Inheritance series, which follows the children of the titular protagonists. In the same month, you can pick up Cautionary Tales, a collection of disturbing tales from the Disney archives. DC Entertainment has released a graphic novel series titled “The Super Sons.”

Best-selling authors form a rock band, and Ridley plays bass with it. The Rockbottom Remainders have been responsible for raising over $2.5 million in donations. His wife Marcelle is also a writer, and he and his family live in the Rocky Mountains.
